I was raised to believe that hate is wrong and it makes you a bad person if you feel hate. I disagree with that teaching now.

Hate is not wrong. Doing fucked up things to people is wrong. Feeling hatred towards something is natural. However, using it as an excuse to do something wrong is not acceptable.

Hate isn't wrong, in and of itself, but it's wasted energy, in my book. Someone worth hating is usually someone worth ignoring.

Well let's see here. My ex hates me enough that he's continued custody litigation for the last ten years. He hates me enough to hold me to a much higher standard than what he holds himself to. Never in my life have I ever seen someone want to ruin a person as much as he does. Quite frankly, it scares me and I worry about what his hatred of me is doing to my children.

Wow, that sucks.

Why is it that the legal system, which is supposed to resolve conflicts and let people get on with their lives, is so often the biggest tool for ongoing harrassment and annoyance?

Money talks I guess. He who has the bigger bank account wins in family court. Pennsylvania is the fifth most corrupt state in the US as far as courts go. There is no justice for good parents living here. Look at what's been done already. And sadly, I'm not the only parent who's been screwed over this way.

In Canada, everything pretty much defaults in favor of the woman.  I'm sorry that America is so bass-ackwards these days.

It's not that they are backasswards so much but rather putting the best interests of the children doesn't seem to carry the weight it should. There are just as many shitty moms (I have one) as there are shitty dads. The courts just want to push families through and be done with it. My ex seems willing to play the game at the expense of my kids because he has money and gets his way. His hatred of me will only reflect badly in the future. The only thing I can hope for is that one day my kids wise up to it.
