Ask a patient in a psychiatric facility

RE: Ask a patient in a psychiatric facility
I'm not sure being insane is a requirement for checking oneself into a mental health facility.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

It's not.

I checked into one when I was having suicidal tendencies.

Exactly.

I have a fear of being smothered, a fesr of being in a confined space and a fear of being trapped.
A straight jacket would do me more harm than good. Just seeing one pictured gets me tensed up a little.

I have no doubt that you will be fine. Unless you are shielding. People shield, and we cannot always see or break through.

It is not your fault that you have erected the shield, but neither is it our fault that we cannot penetrate the shield.

True enough. I'm sane, I was just unable to function pretty much at all due to anxiety. Thanks to being separated from the sources of my anxiety and the miracle of anxiolytics and mood stabilizers, I'm feeling a bit better.

Do you have an idea of when you're going home?

Quite understandable. And I quite like a man who recognizes and is willing to do something regarding his weaknesses, rather than to become the man who is not a man at all.

I don't. I wouldn't expect it to be until late this week at the earliest, and after this I probably am going to be entering an intensive outpatient program.
