Dawn mission to Ceres update:
sorry i am tardy with this, but NASA has announced Dawn will remain at Ceres, the science return is expected to increase their as Ceres goes through aphelion and Dawn can watch for 'changes'. The follow on target, 145 Adeona, a dark carbonaceous asteroid will remain a mystery . . . . The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
I can't understand why anybody would want to explore Uranus, unless there are Klingons on its surface or something.
saw an idea floated regarding Tabby's star (KIC 8462852):
the star illuminating Hubble's Variable Nebula (HVN) (NGC2261) may have similar 'encumbrances' circling it HVN has shown rapidly changing (considering it's size) patterns of light and dark patches over the years. The idea is, if Tabby's star had a nebula surrounding it, we would mostly likely see a very similar effect as seen with HVN. The idea is fascinating, possibly large opaque 'objects' are orbiting the star illuminating HVN, and their shadows are responsible for the moving light and dark patches seen in the nebula. The shadows are not constrained by relativity, BTW, and the patches have been seen to move in a matter of a a few days/weeks on the nebula which is ~ 1 light year across. Now, Tabby's star does not have a nebula, but from our vantage point, we can see the star substantially blocked by (possibly similar) objects and their shadows are what we perceive as the dimming of that highly weird star. But weird as it may be, it may not be unique . . . The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
