Looking for a new relationship can really be hard. Especially when a person isn't over their past. Perhaps success might be found if there was a way to fondly remember the past, but not come off to the potential date as still living there?

How often one reminisces about their past, goes a long way in determining to others how willing they are to move on. It's not that a person should ever forget. They shouldn't. But it's called the past for a reason. They don't live there anymore. And if they honestly don't want to move on, then they won't stop talking about the past.

I had a date a long time ago. And this guy would not stop talking about his ex. At one point, I said to him, "If you are so hung up on your ex, why are you on this date with me?" I got up and walked out shortly after because I wasn't trying to be in competition with his ex and I could easily see that happening if anything progressed further. I would clearly never live up to that expectation, nor should I be expected to. I'm not interested in being compared to someone's ex- good or bad. I am me. If I can't be looked at for who I am and I'm constantly reminded of someone else, then that's not a relationship I want to be in.
