I think it will go farther than that. Like, "Oops, sorry, couldn't find the address" or "We drove by but didn't see a crime in progress" or "That neighborhood is out of our jurisdiction". There may be a rash of early retirements and resignations, requests for desk jobs.  Don't know if this will happen, pessimist in me coming out.

It's like people are trying to drive off good candidates for the job. "Police are scum! They're all dirty, they're all in cohoots, they're all killers!"

People, you are going to get the police force you deserve. Sadly, the rest of us will have to live with your poor judgment.

It's probably the pay that drives off the majority of "good candidates".  Then, ofc...if any remain in the pool willing to do the job, we screen them out in favor of our profiles. Yes, we have the police that we deserve..but not on account of saying mean things......

Which part of that would you like to object to?  That cops aren't rolling in money, and that it's difficult for police depts to lure in decent candidates..forcing them to lower their standards?  Or that people are regularly screened out on account of things that make us go "wtf?"...like having too high an IQ?

Or that we get what we pay for, not an ounce more..an often a few ounces less?

I object to you making claims without support. I don't really expect support, but I will point out when it's absent. 

However, when I point out cops aren't paid enough to risk their lives I see claims that they average ~$100,000/year.
