TBH, I like the dog better than Tibs now.
He's a . . . . . . cat person.
Nah, he loves the dog. It's just that Hunter's a wicked handful in the car. He gets insane excited to go for hikes with me and sticks his head between us, panting and slobbering. He used to sit in the passenger seat while I drove to the park we like, so I think he's just trying to sit on Tibs' lap. The dog weighs more than 100 pounds, but thinks he's a puppy. These are all things that don't bother me at all, but Tibs just finds the drool gross and annoying. I do miss my Hunter time, though. Best hiking companion I've ever had.

Planning ahead: plenty of wealth so that I can live a modest but comfortable life and support multiple charities and causes while I live and even long after.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

While otherwise a disgusting wretch, I do admire Roy Cohen to the extent he managed to die while owing the IRS a phenomenal amount of money.

I like it. I retired 2 years ago at age 62. I worked like a dog for many years, and fully expected to be found slumped over my desk before I could retire. But, investing heavily with the overtime and travel pay, I was able to do it. Every day is like a Saturday. When I was still working, I'd be thinking about what I'd be doing the next day, or Monday, if I actually got a weekend off. We used to even have to schedule weekend days off when we took vacation.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

Apart from that, I hope that I'll travel around a bit, go to a lot of concerts, play music and write.

After I retire I would like to be a crawfish farmer in the spring, plant corn in the summer, go crabbing in the fall and hunting in the winter.

But isn't that what you do now LPW?
One decision I've made is to stay out of commute traffic. It isn't any fun anyhow but even if I'm not in a hurry it just seems wrong to clog up everyone else's misery any worse than it is. I do like walking in the morning though so when we go to the beach south of San Francisco I make sure to leave before 6, get coffee from a Starbuck's near there and then read the paper until it is light enough to walk.
Hey Fireball, sound like we are nearly the same age. I retired at 62 after teaching 25 years (after doing other stuff of course). I'll be playing this old tune with more interest next February.

I'll most likely lie in bed and complain about how everything was better in the good old days, surrounded by guinea pigs.

I probably won't live that long.
