It is a natural effect of a human brain being in distress. Do I believe he predicted world events? Or went to hell? You seem to think that, if there is no definitive explanation for some phenomena, that gives some sort of credence to a supernatural explanation. But that is not the case. At this point I would recommend a book written by Car Sagan called "The Demon Haunted World". It is basically a bullshit detector. No offense, but your critical thinking skills are not the best. You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence. You guys just don't get it.
 You keep on saying that the brain can do this or that but in a NDE the brain is 100% dead as diagnosed by qualified doctors. Are you better than qualified doctors? If would come 100% clear in your mind that in a NDE the consciousness take over and show that is part of the universal mind then you would have no chances but admit that you failed. An entire life of failing thinking that God doesn't exist.

1 Nope I have never heard of an NDE where the patient was declared brain dead, always it was a stopped heart and breathing.
2 HS doesn't seem to have met those criteria, he simply passed out and hallucinated. I call Man-Flu on this shit. And you can be certain that the surgeon didn't botch the tests? You have an anecdote, you can't perform a statistical analysis on 1.

I think his whole posting history is a near meds experience.

I believe that theists like LittleRik who do not believe in absolute death, can easily get confused by terms like NDE.
To them it's just either this side of heaven or the other side. A simple mistake anyone can make.
