Nope. Smile

I'm sad there doesn't seem to be any car enthusiasts here. I thought some of the guys would be chomping at the bit to answer my question.

I'll give you a clue....

It's a major part under the hood.

Looks to me like someone's doing a cylinder head job, but I'm having trouble figuring out what type of engine that came off of. 6 cyl inline?

CD was more specific, but you are both correct.

YES!! I dismantled a blown engine from a 1987 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Tore apart the head, removed all the rocker arms and took it down to nothing. Cleaned it up, replaced all the parts, put in new head gasket, valve cover gasket, thermometer, spark plugs, wires, dist. cap, rotor, gave it oil and did all the rest of the tedious work and there you are. Took me 11 hours stretched out over two days. I did have help from a friend, but this was a project I wanted to do mostly by myself.

I'm actually quite an auto racing buff. Indy, some NASCAR, rallying (WRC or Rally America), showroom stock, and especially IMSA sports cars. I also love watching old videos of rallying and Trans-Am rom the 70's and 80's.

But I have no clue what a freaking magneto even is.

I like your spring compressor! Mine's a clunky POS; I've been looking for a better design.

Did you polish the heads while you had 'em off?
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.
