Glad he's OK. Ever considered a dog seat belt or secured crate? BTW, we had the same mallard toy.
I don't have an anger problem, I have an idiot problem.
He has a seat belt that hooks into the normal seatbelt buckle, and then links to his harness. It keeps him from flying out of a window by choice or accident, but allows him the freedom to jump down into the feet-areas of whatever seat he's on (sometimes he likes to sleep down there).
I'm just thinking I need to get that "mud sling" that hooks onto the headrests of the front and back seats. It protects the backseat from muddy paws, but I think also it would make him feel more secure. This is the fourth seizure since last May that I've seen. They aren't regular enough to put him on medication (yet) but we're keeping a log of them. Twice they had no discernible cause, and twice they seemed stress induced. So we don't do too much outside when it's super hot, and we avoid situations where he might get freaked out. I lost my shit the first and second time it happened, but my vet is literally the most amazing place in the world and his particular doctor and tech went above and beyond with him (he triggered after getting a biopsy on a sore on his foot). By the time I left there, I knew what to expect and how to handle it. Soon after that photo, he was back up playing with Mr. Duck.
Thank you for being a responsible dog owner when it comes to automobiles.
I'm often amazed and befuddled when I see dogs loose in vehicles. Truck bed riding is the worst! I know you said it before but what breed?

I mean, I think it's only smart if you're going to allow them to have an open window even.
He's a schnoodle. Today at lunch we learned the "bark" command in 20 minutes/6 treats. Now to add the silent command half of it.
Tanner will not bark on command. The most I can get him to do is chuff. It's adorable. He has to work himself up. He kind of prances on his toes and then.... "brff..."
It's the same sound he makes when he wakes me up to go outside.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

My last dog, Fletcher, had epilepsy and used to get grand mal seizures. I only witnessed a few but they were so violent. I hope your little guy isn't on a trajectory to get those.
Poodles are prone to them, but they seem really minor. The worst one so far was at the vets, fortunately, and they shot him with doggy valium and swaddled him like a baby. Seriously, the tech carried him around for half an hour while he calmed down. They have a loyal patient for life.
Steel - Kíli chuffs too, but so did my dad's dobie who was trained by Search & Rescue - I think we spend so much time telling them to shut up when they bark they're hesitant to do it on command, lol. Next up is to make a command to make him do his little schnoodle howl...woooowooooowoof! |
