Creationism and Ignorance
RE: Creationism and Ignorance
I see GC is pissing and moaning that we're not bowing and scraping to his psychosis every time he enters the room.

Way to persuade people that you're on the right track, GC. Protip: You're not.

But it's true that I do not give christians the respect that they think that they deserve. That's very different from being uncivil.

You have no idea do you, don't know what else to say when someone denies everything to justify their actions.

Actually I have a very clear idea. I knowingly and deliberately reciprocate the kind of behaviour that I receive regardless of whether the person is a theist or atheist. I make sure to give as good as I get. But I never instigate it and it's very important to me that people need to be given the opportunity to change their behaviour.

So if someone is an arsehole to me then I am an arsehole back to them by making sure that I point out at every opportunity why they are wrong. It's far more fun to play with their cognitive dissonance than to insult them. I don't do this to theists though who are nice. For example Atlas isn't an arsehole and seems like a nice person. There are theists on TTA who are also nice people so I am nice to them and very happy to do so. I deliberately avoid chatting about religion with them. There are also atheists who are arseholes who I give the same treatment to.

You GC are an arsehole when you're on here. In fact, most of the christians on AF seem to be.

Yes the American christians do seem to have this particularly grating sense of entitlement. I blame it on them living in a proto-theocracy and thinking that their country is the best in the world that every country should be modelled on.

RE: Creationism and Ignorance
To have discussion about something people first have to be informed of what they're talking about. GC is not informed and yet he nevertheless engages in discussions he doesn't know anything about and then he attacks people personally.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
