Most notorious badass in history?
So who was the most notorious badass in history?
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Judge Holden, the real life star of Cormac McCarthy's unfilmed, unfilmable masterpiece Blood Meridian;

'...Who or what he was no one knew but a cooler blooded villain never went unhung; he stood six feet six in his moccasins, had a large fleshy frame, a dull tallow colored face destitute of hair and all expression. But when a quarrel took place and blood shed, his hog-like eyes would gleam with a sullen ferocity worthy of the countenance of a fiend. His desires was blood and women, and terrible stories were circulated in camp of horrid crimes committed by him when bearing another name, in the Cherokee nation and Texas; and before we left Fronteras a little girl of ten years was found in the chapperal, foully violated and murdered. The mark of a huge hand on her little throat pointed him out as the ravisher as no other man had such a hand, but though all suspected, no one charged him with the crime..."  -- Samuel Emery Chamberlain

fictional.  The assassin embellished the story.    In reality He was shot in the forehead from point blank range by a large caliber revolver firing an unjacketed lead bullet, and died instantly.   His autopsy report is still extant, and show he wasn’t poisoned nor beaten nor drowned.

True, but it's still an amazing story. Amazing enough that when Last Podcast on the Left covered Rasputin, they told a story about his death that combined the famous story with the known truth.

And the surprising thing is that, even if the attempted poisoning actually did happen (and apparently, the cook chosen to do so chickened out), there's still plenty of mundane reasons such an attempt would have failed, most notably because, well, as far as poisoning methods go, trying to bake cyanide into sweets is one of the worst possible ways to do so; even if the prolonged exposure to extreme heat inherent in the baking process didn't neutralise the cyanide, there's some evidence that sugar (specifically glucose) can make it less lethal.

Depends on who was keeping the records. i.e., bullshit story is bullshit.
