Plus, even the Democratic Party isn't even all that leftist. It only seems that way because the political establishment in the US is still pretty right-wing. Let alone that the Republican Party has been careening further and further into the right every year.

You can count the numbers of actual leftists in the US without breaking a sweat. Plenty of liberals, but very few leftists.
