This is factually incorrect. All the major leaders of WWI were Christians except the Japanese emperor. Stalin may have been an atheist, but Hitler certainly believed in a single god of some sort, as did Churchill and Roosevelt, who were both observant Christians. German soldiers had as a mandatory part of their uniform this belt-buckle:

no, what stalin did was identical to what the christian church did to gain and stay in power,  which is to discredit preexisting sources of morality, destroy preexisting symbols of cultural attainment, to steal the credit for morality, to pretend to be the true source of morality, and then denigrate and murder those would contradict the pretense.
