I think there would be a certain irony to Min's kids being closet Christians and not daring to come out to their father.

Ah, good article. That amazes me the child was 8. My daughter is 6 and my son is 3. The 3 year old is a bit too young to have much of an opinion but both are exposed to Christianity a lot around here. I think I've mentioned Paige's school (public school) does the Lord's prayer sometimes, they bless their food at lunch, and she is actually in a church soccer league (only because the recreational leagues around here are extremely competitive and grueling and the church league is more supportive at this age). My son attends a Christian preschool because that is the only preschools that exist here as it is a mother's morning out type of deal (only two days a week for 2 hours). They only have those in churches around here.

So, my point is that I am letting them decide what they want to believe. I will give them the Atheist side (but only privately in our house) but they are surrounded by the Christianity side so much of their lives... so I really have no idea what they will turn out to believe. I imagine they will be like me and go through different phases of their lives believing different things. As long as they are happy and function well, I really do not care what they choose to belief. I can only tell them my thoughts and feelings on religion when they ask me as I do now. Paige said, "mommy do you believe in God?" a few weeks ago. I replied, "no i do not but many people do." That was enough for her. For now.

Considering the cannons he has in his closet........

I see most people in their 20's or at least the ones I know could care less about religion.

I think children are actually really excited about learning the natural sciences, but lots of religious folks fill that urge to understand the natural world with bullshit.

We must remember we are all born atheist, there is nothing natural in this world that points to the supernatural, it is implanted into us by other humans. If supernatural activities were real, the universe would collapse, cause if you can start walking on water, then fuck, the properties of matter and laws of physics have gone whacked. Divide by 0

They weren't stupid enough to "rebel" in that way. They mainly listened to shitty music and dressed like assholes.

Hey. Maybe they were xtians?

Having recently moved from a predominantly Mormon school district to one of the most multicultural schools in the state, I'll say that, when parents put education before dogma, great things become possible. When religion is put first, the real spirit dies-that of inquiry and adventure, the part that wants to understand the world.

I think religion found a biological niche, we all yearn for answers and to understand the world around us, religion took that curiosity away from us giving us all the answers, and in turn filled that natural curiosity. So people stop thinking, and questioning. All the answers are right there in this book.

It was created for that purpose.

Well welcome to the Information Age you fundies!!!
The biggest catalyst for the reduction of religion is the internet. IMO
This forum, perfect example.
