Which political party do you support and why?

RE: Which political party do you support and why?
That's fine, but what I wanted to know is if there was any evidence. Being a skeptic, I'm not too fond of speculation, even the honest kind.

. . . and that is just one. You guys also have Woolpit where green children came up from the bowels of the Earth. Big Grin As for Roswell, it's not much more than a tourist attraction. I read all of the released FBI files on that case and a bunch of the stuff that came after. Saps are being sucked dry by the old American dream -- make a fortune selling shit to idiots.

That is an issue right there...protect from what exactly?? Ourselves?? Welcome to the Nanny state= Communism.

The term 'nanny state' is a sound bite, not an argument.

I consider ideologies and idealogues naive at best, dangerous at worst. I advocate taking elements from any system which work and benefit society.

I advocate an equitable society, something not possible under laissez faire capitalism.

Full employment high wages and high taxes for EVERYONE

Effective government run systems of health, education and welfare.

A free but regulated financial sector, such as we have in Australia. We were almost the only country relatively unaffected by the global financial melt down caused by an amoral and unregulated US finance sector.

The late 19th to mid 20th century saw the rise of the international trade union movement. That happened because employers could not be trusted to deal with their employees honestly or fairly.

Trade unionism dragged industry kicking and screaming to such things as:

The end of child labour, especially in mines and factories

The 8 hour day replacing the 16 hour day.

Equal pay for women

Workmen's compensation.

Occupational health and safety laws.

Consumer protection:

In the US,the FDA, which must approve any sold to the public.

In US law; the office of the public defender,

So, I guess we may need to agree to differ. You continue using a facile sound bite to argue a complex issue and I'll continue being right. Angel Cloud

Is electoral fraud really such a big problem in the USA?

Ever heard of the electoral college?
(December 15, 2011 at 6:51 pm)Tiberius Wrote: Wait, I think we're talking about completely different things here. I'm talking about electoral fraud, where some votes for the opposition aren't counted, or votes for the "winning side" are inflated. A quirk of an electoral system isn't electoral fraud; it's just a quirk of the system.

I'm not saying it's fair, just that it doesn't constitute electoral fraud. I happen to agree with you that it isn't fair, and I've already proposed (in the other thread) that Alternative Vote is a better (and fairer) way of deciding elections with one winner.

R, You were the one who said fraud was involved.

We think the system is a sham.

...and sure, there have been many cases of electoral fraud throughout American history..but what I call the entire system is a sham.

I am a technocratic anarchist based on research and a vision for a world government. Wink

I do not support any political party as their agenda is not mine.

Since ever?

Disclosure Project

Your government led the way in declassifying military documentation. I'm not into UFOs - the above link is the sole repository of decent information on this phenomenon, IMHO.

Want do you think of energy credits to replace capitalism House of Cantor?

I find it to be very interesting.

I love syndicalism. But my anarchy can swing mostly social, technocratic, etc...

Im a bit cautious of the zeitgheist people though..but only because of conspiracy theories. Their ideas for the future are excellent.

RE: Which political party do you support and why?
I'm fed up. I look at Aus politics and see the same shit repackaged (but for maybe Nick Xenaphon, he seems fairly principled), I don't agree with him on many issues, but he's now the only politician who doesn't cause me to change the channel when he pops up on the television. They all seem as craven, corrupt, greedy and unprincipled as each other.

I'll keep voting for 3rd parties and independents, purely because I want the two party system (not to mention the two parties) done away with, until my dream party comes along, a moderate libertarian party which is also committed to fielding candidates for ministerial positions who actually know what they are doing and have experience in that field. I want my health minister to at least have seen the inside of a hospital, and my education minister to have been involved in education. Peter Garret from the midnight oils? So he knows his Music, the music industry presumably and law, make him minister for arts (which he was before) then, why is this chap our minister for education?

That they can have major reshuffles scares me.

Politicians are (almost as a rule) habitually ambitious. They are accomplished liars, each and every one. Anyone who wishes to serve in a public office is probably not fit for the job if only for the fact that they desire it. If politics were like jury duty we'd have the same level of competence and much less corruption. There should be a trick question on any application to run for political office.

"Do you wish to be [insert office here]?"

Everyone who answers yes should be disqualified on the grounds of severe doubts about their integrity and intentions. Smile
