Still plugging away at Clash of Kings (one chapter a night makes it go really slow)

I'm up to... volume 9 of The Walking Dead comic (finished 9 last night).  I'm still not entirely sure I like comics - there doesn't seem to be the same degree of character development that novels (or even the TV series) develop, but I don't know if that's merely because the comics focus on different characters, or because of the pace they have to move at to maintain their readership...  For example



Started my audible account back up so I'm re-listening to Dan Wells' Serial Killer series (I am Not a Serial Killer, Mr. Monster and I Don't Want to Kill You) in preparation for his new book Devil's Only Friend which I need to download, but am waiting to do so until I catch up with the series.

Also, I just found out that World War Z was based on a book, so I'm thinking of getting it.
Teenaged X-Files obsession + Bermuda Triangle episode + Self-led school research project = Atheist.

The walking dead comics are better then the show. Tyreese kicks ass. Also I would recommend that if you want to read world war z and since you like the walking dead, grab the ultimate zombie survival guide. By the same author as wwz and is a good read.

This doesn't change the fact that I don't feel like the comics develop the characters to the same degree that the show does, though (or a novel of TWD would if they were novels). Nor resolve my ambivalence about whether I like comics. Undecided

I agree with the sentiment about Tyreese, though. On the show he's kind of a weenie.

Also, I like Andrea in the comics WAAAAAAAY more than on the show. On the show I was waiting for her to die because she was so annoying and selfish, but while I like Andrea more in the comics, I feel like I knew Andrea on the show better - she felt like she was more fleshed out as a character whereas I feel like all I know about Comic-Andrea is that she's a good shot, likes to sew, and is in a relationship with Dale...

Also, I think Michonne was also more developed on the show.

But, again, I don't know if this is an artifact of just how comics are, an artifact of where I am in the comics (I'm starting Volume 10 and there's 100+), or what.

I enjoy the comics.....er,  I meant graphic novels as much, if not more than the show. It does help to read them back to back or in the compendium, though. Btw, graphic novel Carol does not kick ass.

No, the tyreese is the reason I won't watch the show. He was an awesome with this great dynamic with Rick because they were both good and honest people that wanted the same thing but had two totally different viewpoints on how to accomplish it. This was amazing to read and the show cheapened it.

Fleshed out. Heh, heh. The first zombie story I encountered was Night of the Living Dead printed in of of those old horror trade mags. I was 8 and visiting my grandparents in the boondocks. Holy shit, I was scared out of my mind.
The characters drew me in and kept me reading. Incidentally, that was also the first time I'd ever read a story that didn't have a happy ending. Wtf?

Ohhh, yes! Get it!!! But, do not expect the movie in novel form. The movie basically bought the rights so they could get the name and then developed their own story so that Brad Pitt could do a zombie action movie. The book is waaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy better than the movie.
