What Are Some Little Things People Do That Make You Mad?
RE: What Are Some Little Things People Do That Make You Mad?
From reading this thread, I can't but think that some of you are not picking the right restaurants and are consorting with a bad element. I do not have nearly as much trouble in the world as many of you have.

These are handicap parking spots:

If you park in them, and you can walk fairly well (even if you have a temporary handicap placard), you're an asshole.  If you park in the lined area to either side of the spot, you're an asshole, especially if your vehicle is sort of half in/half out of the spot.

Basically, unless you're in a wheelchair and have a vehicle that requires extra space on the sides so you can get in and out, or you have a legit problem walking, DON'T FUCKING PARK THERE.  It's not fucking rocket science, and the extra fucking walking will likely do some good, you fucking lazy fucks.

Everywhere around here, people with temporary placards take up van spots with their little econo-shitboxes because they're fucking lazy.  Most of them can walk just fine, either without assistance or with a walker or cane.  THOSE SPOTS ARE NOT FOR YOU.  The lined section is so fucking wheelchair lifts have room to work.  And there's a very limited number of those spots in public places, so if they're all filled by lazy fucks, it's that much more difficult for me to actually get into the public sphere so I don't lose my fucking mind staying at home.

Don't do it.  And if you have done it, stop.

I had a disabled placard in my car that I never even put on the mirror unless my dad was riding with me (it was his placard, and I drove him everywhere). I once parked in a disabled spot at his church so that I could get him into his wheelchair and into the building. When I came out, two church ladies started yelling at me that I shouldn't be parked there. It was really embarrassing, but it was wrong of them to jump to conclusions. Yes, I walk just fine, but my dad didn't.

All I'm saying is there might sometimes be extenuating circumstances you don't know about.

No, I'm well aware that's a possibility.  And that sort of thing is fine (although the better move would be to drive up to the front of the building's entrance to drop them off if you're not going to stay... no use taking a spot if you're not going to stay more than the time it takes to drop them off Tongue ) since a wheelchair is involved.  You're using the space as intended - helping someone in a wheelchair enter/exit the vehicle.

But, I've been out several times this month, and every time the spots are taken up by small vehicles.  And watching the majority of people both in the parking lot and inside my destination (usually a store, like Wal-Mart, yay), no one has anything close to a legit mobility issue.  No one using the store-supplied electric carts.  No one with oxygen.  No one with a walker.  Maybe one or two canes.  No one obviously struggling, or morbidly obese (someone like my aunt, who while not 'disabled' has knee and hip issues due to her weight, so I'm used to those signs as well).

Just a bunch of lazy fuckers.

This is why I haven't applied for disabled plates, though I could easily get them. With a cane or walking stick, I walk passbly well.

I actually never knew about the adjacent lined area. I've never been too famous for knowing much, or caring, about the ADA. But, that does make sense. I just wish there were some other symbol, or text, superimposed on those lines.

Any place that has yellow lines like that is a place where you are not supposed to park.  If you do, you can get a ticket.
