That usually brings in special pleading Smile

Emotionally you have chosen theism. That brings you inner peace... That's a good thing...
You need not have to prove anything to us ...

Let me ask you something... Do you think something as complex as a "God" who can make the universe in 6 days just spontaneously appeared?
Even if there are gods, they too had to evolve from a single celled life. This is abiogenesis ... Either way you look at it ...it's real ...
I thought about that. As far as I viewed God, He is like big conscious non-contigent UNKNOWN outside of space and time and the universe. Sort of like "the great INFINITY" who began universe.

Not that God is the beginning cause, but the beginning cause is what people philosophize as God.

Kind of like a Programmer outside a computer, and we humans are the programs outside computer (except for the fact that the programmer is just finite contingent). I think Theism is maybe a compromise between philosophy and science.

It could be that or I'm a religious twat making excuses which seems to be the case.

Juice.

Well, it also posits god as being axiomatic, which is not justifiable.  Angel

I know I was full of shit recently when I suffered constipation.
As Jewstein once said "One man's security-lock is another man's constipation. Either way they are both doomed unless they own a pistol to shoot their congested butthole open""

You're trying to rationalize your emotional conclusions. It's perfectly normal for theists.

I've never heard a definition of god that can be distinguished from nothing at all. So for all practical purposes, until this changes, god is nothing. Putting "made the universe" on his CV is premature when his existence has not been established.

The reason it can't be distinguished from nothing is that it has to be carefully defined to be outside the realm of science. If it wasn't, it could be proved wrong and that would be that. It's the same with all "supernatural" stuff, it just gets defined in a special way to keep it safe from investigation. But all that's really happening is imaginary causes with no evidence whatsoever.

It makes some people happy. Some people can't handle just saying "I don't know where the universe came from, or if it indeed came from anywhere". They have to have an answer, even if it's a made up one. They can't handle saying, "I make my own purpose" or "I will die one day". There has to be a story behind it all, an external purpose for some reason (I don't know what the fuck purpose god gives to anything) and pretend extra life after death.

Thank you Big Grin

His beardiness is perfectly welcome to come slap the taste out of my mouth and prove me wrong.

He's nothing but an imaginary buddy. I used to have one of those. He was a lot nicer than Mr Y.

You don't want that shit, believe me. Scripture ain't fucking around when it goes on about what a douchebag god is to his prophets. I'm about as certain as a person can be that it's all derivative of schizophrenia.  Wink
