I've already bought and seen enough of the game to know about Flowey. It would be more of a mercy kill if it was actually possible for him to stay dead.

Another thougth I've had is that after a final boss fight you're left unconscious. You hear someone call your name, and say it's just a bad dream, before waking up and seeing your monster friends. I wonder if this is some kind of reference to some games where it's all just a dream. Like maybe it was teasing the idea that you'd wake up in a bed and see a group of Humans, and the underground was just a dream.

This doesn't happen, but it makes me think of those kinds of endings.

Yes and no i really don't want to give away spoilers. If you go for the genocide ending Flowey will tell you everything.

I am definitely resisting going for the genocide run.

I can't wait until they add hard mode.

Did you go to the lab after the first "ending"? To get the true ending? The creepy smiley guys? They're the results of those experiments. Theres detailed diaries, tapes of your creation and everything.
Flowey is the result of those experiments too.

I know Flowey wanted the first child back, but I don't know about him trying to ressurect the first child with your body or something.

You have to go to Alphy's real lab

I've been to the real lab. I know fowey was created there, and I saw the tapes with the Dreemur family. None of that indicated frisk was an experiment too. To my knowledge. Remember the character you name in the beginning is not the character you play as.
