I still haven't built my super-duper megabase yet.  Right now, I have a 6-floor tower with a disco room in Sanctuary, but I think I'm going to rip out a lot of the inner floor work to make it much taller, and have a kind of penthouse at the top.  The question is- - - how to get up there?

They really need to add some upper-tier stuff: elevators etc.

OMG, you just gave me a killer idea - imma build a ziggurat at the drive-in!

I honestly can't get my head around the construction system.

It's probably because I haven't dedicated enough time to it.

On another note a guy I work with mentioned that he built a huge structure with no doors and the only way to get into it is to go into construction mode and move a section of the wall...

The basics are pretty easy. The only problem I have with are level 3 shops. They simply don't appear at the end of my cursor when being selected. I can only build up to level 2, although I meet every requirement for the highest level.

But the building mode is a real nightmare on PC. The only thing Bethesda royally screwed up for the PC version is the UI and keyboard mapping. Most annoyingly, the same keys having different functions under different circumstances.

Yeah, I've had two goes at creating structures and, frankly, the second looks like something Dr. Frankenstein would be proud of...

Play the old Fallout games.  In my opinion, they were at least as fun as FO4.

Dress yourself in some form of metal, get some guns and "explore" your neighbourhood while avoiding people or shooting those annoying "raiders" in the cars with the flashing lights on top.

Nah I'd have to go out first to do that... and I'm in all the time because ummm.....umm... something involving my dominant hand.

You might be surprised at how much fucking wood it takes to build a ziggurat worthy of the name.

I may have to rethink the planned dimensions.

At 2.45am this morning, just after I got home from work, I built a basic 3 level wooden structure in Sanctuary.

Hopefully, now I have the basics down, I can build something substantial on the island.
