People who have to deal with reality are usually a bit less cheerful, than the idiots, who live with their heads up their a**es, day-dreaming about sky-cake. Have you ever seen a junkie, just after a shot of heroin? They seem really f*cking happy, don't they - more so than most christians I've ever seen. So maybe you should try that?
Or - you know - just fall on your head, so that you can spend the rest of your miserable life as a vegetable, unaware of any unpleasantness, quietly excreting all over yourself in pure mindless bliss.
Yes, it's fun to be stupid and ignorant, especially when you can rely on other - smarter - people to worry about and deal with the problems of reality for you, so you can focus entirely on fellating your imaginary friend to your heart's content...

Idk, it just seems sort of discouraging to me to go around thinking that when you die, you just become like a lump of dirt, or a glob of poop, and thats it . No after life.. no paradise in the sky with your dead family members and pets.. just nothing.. so sad .
I just feel lucky that I don't buy into that ! The possibility of heaven after I die is really kind of a motivator, something to "hope for" if you will!
Part of the reason I ask, is that so many of the posters on this forum seem like grumpy sadsacks a lot of the time . It's like something is bothering you in this world.. but you don't know what it is.
Am I right? Are atheists sort of an unhappy lot (Generally speaking?) For atheists that have been freed from religion, realizing that you are not special and that there is nothing after death is probably one of the first hurdles. After that it's business like usual. You live more or less the same as when you were religious, just without that annoying pest called "god" watching you fap everyday or getting jealous when you eat bacon.

I'm not sad, but you know what's sad? The OP's attempts at stirring up controversy
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

No I don't think you are right, either in your assessment of the happiness of atheists or in that of theists for that matter.
There is one religion which I admit appeals to me just a bit, Bokononism. They believe that we, other animals and even minerals are basically mud. But we are in a special phase during which we get to sit up and look around and appreciate all that God has made. They aren't sad at having to lie back down and become ordinary mud. They're just grateful for the opportunity to be able to sit up, look around and take it all in. No judgement. No carrot or other reward. No punishment. Just appreciation.
Atheists don't attribute what they see to God's handiwork but I think many have this appreciation for the beauty and wonder of what there is. You might say we're in love with the actual, death and all. I won't be thanking Anyone when it becomes my time to return to an ordinary mud state. But I will still be feeling appreciation. Who knows? Maybe a little wistful too at saying goodbye but that probably depends on the circumstances. And lets face it, neither of us knows exactly what we will feel when the time comes. Will you still have your doubts? Perhaps you'll suspect it was all a lie. There may be regrets.
Of course Bokononism is a fictional religion invented by Kurt Vonnegut in his book Cat's Cradle. But if I were to be any kind of theist, I'd be a Bokononist.

Richard Dawkins' ubiquitously quoted passage from Unweaving The Rainbow might as well be the credo of this Bokonic religion you mention.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

I had to look that up but yes I see what you mean. Luckier to have been and to know than to have never been at all. That is kind of what strikes me as most pathetic about at least fundie religionists. They choose to know what they would like to believe even without reason and in so doing, I suspect, miss the splendor of the actual.

He can't keep away from us!
He wants to be an atheist but can't let go of the apron strings. (Just in case it's all real and all!)

As for spending more time with people who hated me while they were alive, erm no thanks.

I think he generates discussion about things. Either than that, he's a harmless clown and should be treated as such. Everyone knows he admited to being a troll and an atheist. That's already done. Let him continue this joke is he so pleases.
