Milwalkee riots

The bottom line is this, you criticise religious forums for being so narrow-minded and NOT allowing you to have an opinion, yet at the same time, this forum is going the same way as religious forums are i.e. you are wrong, your opinion is not accepted here, you are an idiot, you are a moron, you are a douche, that's bullshit etc etc etc. Well, give it time, this forum will become one of those religious ones, but from an atheistic point of view. If your point of view isn't accepted, then you are not welcome.

I hope you're getting a discount on all that straw.

Quote:Wow. You have a lot of nerve. You call others culturally ignorant, and then build entire straw armies. Irony doesn't even begin to touch the surface here.

You are culturally ignorant. The Americans are culturally ignorant and I stand by that claim regardless of how you want to take it. Thank God for Europe its rich multi-cultural heritage. With you guys, it is black and white and sod everyone else in between. You are culturally ignorant and arrogant because I have seen Americans come over to France and their language skills are non-existant, where they think everyone speaks English. It is arrogant. I have seen yoghurts with more culture.

Amazing.

You know nothing about me, yet you're willing to ascribe all kinds of attributes. More irony: when describing language skills, you can't even spell "existent" correctly.

Robert, how many languages do you think I speak? How many countries do you think I've visited? In how many do you think I've lived? What do you think my university majors were? How many friends from all over the world do you think I have?

Culturally ignorant? No one has anything on you.

Bullshit, that's what this is; this is you trying to get in a shot at anyone who doesn't agree with you, by sticking words in their mouths. Stick to your own views, and let others define their own. Anything otherwise looks an awful lot like strawmanning.

I am not talking about here am I? I am talking about over there.

It doesn't matter where you're talking about, you're still imputing views based on a broad generalization. I asked you for numbers (which to anyone with half-a-brain should indicate that I know we're talking about wider society) -- I asked you for numbers to support your "typical" verbiage. Those numbers aren't anywhere in your post.

And how many times have you been here to America, anyway? How many Americans do you know that you can assess what is and isn't "typical" regarding their views about black police officers?

Speaking out of ignorance does nothing for your credibility.

Ironically enough, the man you use as an example has himself called many blacks Uncle Toms:

US News & World Report Wrote:Not only his fiscally conservative 9-9-9 plan, but his rhetoric comparing a media fire storm over his alleged sexual harassment to a "high-tech lynching" and accusing black voters of being "brainwashed" to stay on the "democratic plantation," have left black voters disconnected from Cain.

Those blacks who do think he's a sell-out don't think he's a sell-out because he's successful. They think he's a sell out because he belongs to the political party which assiduously works to hamper their right to vote, which assiduously refuses to grant minority concerns any standing in the national political discourse, which assiduously works to remove equal-rights protections.

You could also consider the fact that President Obama is black and obviously successful, but is not generally called an Uncle Tom. Wonder why? Maybe -- just maybe! -- it has something to do with his policies not unraveling the many civil-rights accomplishments over the last seven decades?

You could also read this article at RealClearPolitics for a little insight.

After the way you've run your mouth on a topic you clearly don't know the first thing about, calling someone else "culturally ignorant" is something you should avoid.

You've got the opportunity here to learn from people who live it first-hand -- yet you would prefer to tell them how things are from your perspective in France, touting your immigrant status as your bona fide.

Get over yourself, pal. You don't know your ass from third base about this country or this culture, and you don't have the good sense to not advertise that fact.

Culturally ignorant? No one has anything on you.

So, you have visited a lot of countries, so a great deal of others have done so too. Again, for the second question, many millions have done this over the centuries. Thirdly, what your majors have to do with this god only knows. You could have a degree in social sciences and art, but is it relevant? Does having a degree make you anymore qualified than myself? For example, I went to France with no language skills, yet I can bet I can translate conversations, translate documents, have meaningful discussions with various other people about different things, and I can guarantee that I would be better qualified than someone who is majored in French. As for your friends, it is not the quantity, but the quality of friends you have that counts. I have friends from Hokkaido and Shikoku, and I have friends from Hong Kong, or to be more precise if you wish, the New Territories, from places like Tsim Sha Tsui, Shatin and Yuen Mun. Why not my friends and family (family of my girlfriend who is Franco-Armenian with a Franco-Vietnamien father), who live in Vietnam, Armenia and the Ivory Coast. My interest in the Japanese language, the Chinese language and also the Korean language helped me enrich my culture and learn a great deal about the aforementioned languages because of friends I have which sparked an interest, and also because of the sport I practiced (Tae Kwon-Do) for a few years. I also enrolled in a Chinese school which enabled not only the Hong Kong Chinese (in England) to be able to learn Chinese so they can visit China (pre-1996) it also opened doors for people like myself and other western groups to learn another language and culture other than French, Spanish or Italian. I could go on, but just like your post, it is irrelevant to the thread and quite frankly, your opinion will never change, in spite of the fact that you don't even know me which makes you assume many things about me.

You can have your opinion all you want, uninformed as it is; but you cannot have the floor to yourself.

If your ideas cannot survive vigorous discussion, perhaps they're not worth holding.

You're being called names because you're being condescending, deigning to lecture Americans on the attitudes of Americans from your lofty ivory tower located in France. Your opinions are fine, such as they are, even if they're dreadfully wrong. But "you are wrong" and "that's bullshit" are valid rejections of your spurious and unsupported claims. If you want to change minds, you're gonna actually have to deliver the goods, not simply spout off your own uninformed opinions.

Fuck off, you little cunt. Your willingness to deploy broad-brush generalizations marks you as an weak mind unworthy of serious consideration.

That whooshing sound you're hearing is what's left of your credibility getting blown out of the room by this post of yours.

You see, the difference between you and me. I can argue the opposite and remain calm, whereas you, and others besides have to abuse, swear just to get your point across. For me, when you swear and abuse bella, paul or myself (not just you, but others too) then you lose all credibility.

I rest my case about your credibility. Many thanks for proving a point. Furthermore, I do accept opinion, and when I get an opinion, I give my own, and if it is wrong, then please have the good manners to actually state that I am wrong without expletives. Did you just hear that sound too.....your credibility whoosing out the white house window. Big Grin

lol, I'm calm. I'm deploying language for effect. It's funny, though -- you assign credibility based on whether or not someone cusses, and I assign credibility based on whether or not you know what you're talking about. Whose metric is more pertinent, would you say?

You keep patting yourself on the back, though. I'm sure you need all the superiority you can find.

Holy crap, cussing on the Internet hurts your little feelings? Life's tough, boyo. Get a helmet and quit your goddamned whining.

I have yet to see you accept countervailing opinion offered from the black Americans in this very thread as being anything but -- what was the phrase you used? -- oh, yes, being unable to see nuance. As if you, in France, have a finer and more detailed picture of American racism.

That, plus your unrestrained and unwarranted chauvinism over your own British roots makes cussing at you fun, you fucking maroon.

When did I say it hurt my feelings son? As you say, life is tough and if you don't like people cussing the United States and for what it stands for i.e. raving gun culture which is spiralling out of control then tough shit. As a European, we have eyes and we have opinions and to be honest, not one European I know likes its guns laws. From an 'outsiders', point of view, if someone gets killed by a police officer in the United States is not the fault of the police, it is the fault of a law that permits Americans to own guns and thus giving carte blanche, to the Hispanic community, the bloods and the crisps, the aryan dicks, the Chinese Triads, the Italian mafia etc etc. Take the stupid gun law away, and it might make the United States look more like Australia or even the United Kingdom.

You might think from reading the quote that the person saying it was around 5 years old but this was from a man in his 20s.

How do you think that posting a youtube video by a lying racist fuck is going to make me care about your racist beliefs?
