Fundies Will Be Shitting Bricks
RE: Fundies Will Be Shitting Bricks
Styatler Wrote:Well I guess it is easy enough for me to do so. There has never been a natural or intelligently guided process outside of the living cell observed in nature nor in the laboratory that can produce only the mono-chiral amino acids that are necessary for life. There that did it. Now if you believe this is incorrect, the burden is on you to demonstrate otherwise.

This is your supporting documentation? Really? Another unsupported claim? No, Statler, the only thing this proves is that you have nothing with which to support your claim. Congratulations.

Statler Wrote:they intelligently designed the peptides to go against their natural tendencies.

WTF? Care to elaborate?

Statler Wrote:On the contrary, did you read your own article?

Absolutely? Apparently you didn't read it all the way through. Case in point, The last sentence on the article states:

Quote:Preliminary experiments suggest that peptidic dendrons can mimic what happens in nature.

Statler Wrote:What you are asking for is ridiculous; you are asking me to prove the negative position here

If you don't want to prove a negative position, don't MAKE a negative position. You said that "we have never observed it". Now, either that means that no one has ever observed it, or else you BELIEVE that no one has observed it. By the way the adage that you cannot prove a negative is actually wrong, dude. Want to rephrase your BS claim? Keep in mine that what you believe ain't necessarily so.

Statler Wrote:I am still waiting for those historical documents you claimed to have proving slavery in Bible times was worse than American slavery….still wafting…..waiting.

Do you know what happens when you put words in my mouth that I didn't say? It makes you look stupid. Congratulaions.

They were slaves Statler. Now you can try to clean it up by switching to any word or compbination of words you care to use, but the fact is that they were slaves. Period. End of story.

Statler Wrote:Yep, many do

That, of course, is simply bullshit. Most archaeologists would not waste their time looking for the garden of Eden, much less write a book about it. When you figure out why, come back and we'll talk.

Statler Wrote:Except according to the Rohl findings, large cemeteries were found containing mostly women and babies. These were thought to be Israelites because of the sheep they raised. So stop ignoring evidence and then asserting it does not exist because you ignored it. You could at least just admit you don’t accept it.

Look, I'm not an unreasonable guy. If you present evidence (real evidence, not just your word on the matter) that shows without question that there are cemetaries in Egypt that are attributed to the Israelites of Biblical tmes, I will accept it. Just saying that Rohl claims this or that is not good enough. I want links to specific papers on the matter. The Egyptian museum has been digging up common burials for the last 2 decades and invariably have found Egyptian laborers and higher ups (more skilled labor) in the graves. This is well known and written about in the literature. These are the facts. If you say that there is other evidence, give me more than the name of a bibical archaeologist who has written a book claiming to know where the Garden of Eden is.

Statler Wrote:I was talking about the piece written by Ipuwer (an Egyptian), not the slave decree which you seem to still be referring to. Crash and boom is right.

Erm, moving the goalpost? I looked up the information on the specific artifact you were talking about, and it was a list of prisoners or laborers. There is nothing on that document that indicates that they were Israelite slaves. Nothing at all.

Statler Wrote:1. Slaves in those days were not similar to American Slaves since Hebrew makes no distinction between the word “slave” and “servant”. 2. Just because Abraham owned slaves or servants it does not mean the Bible is condoning the act of owning slaves. So stop trying to prove something I am not even arguing against.

1) I didn't say that they were similar. I said in all likelihood they were treated worse than were American slaves. Whether or not Hebrews made a distinction between slaves and servanrts is irrelevant.

2) However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way. (Leviticus 25:44-46 NLT)

If you buy a Hebrew slave, he is to serve for only six years. Set him free in the seventh year, and he will owe you nothing for his freedom. If he was single when he became your slave and then married afterward, only he will go free in the seventh year. But if he was married before he became a slave, then his wife will be freed with him. If his master gave him a wife while he was a slave, and they had sons or daughters, then the man will be free in the seventh year, but his wife and children will still belong to his master. But the slave may plainly declare, 'I love my master, my wife, and my children. I would rather not go free.' If he does this, his master must present him before God. Then his master must take him to the door and publicly pierce his ear with an awl. After that, the slave will belong to his master forever. (Exodus 21:2-6 NLT)

When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again. But he is not allowed to sell her to foreigners, since he is the one who broke the contract with her. And if the slave girl's owner arranges for her to marry his son, he may no longer treat her as a slave girl, but he must treat her as his daughter. If he himself marries her and then takes another wife, he may not reduce her food or clothing or fail to sleep with her as his wife. If he fails in any of these three ways, she may leave as a free woman without making any payment. (Exodus 21:7-11 NLT)

When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property. (Exodus 21:20-21 NAB)

Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ. (Ephesians 6:5 NLT)

Christians who are slaves should give their masters full respect so that the name of God and his teaching will not be shamed. If your master is a Christian, that is no excuse for being disrespectful. You should work all the harder because you are helping another believer by your efforts. Teach these truths, Timothy, and encourage everyone to obey them. (1 Timothy 6:1-2 NLT)

The servant will be severely punished, for though he knew his duty, he refused to do it. "But people who are not aware that they are doing wrong will be punished only lightly. Much is required from those to whom much is given, and much more is required from those to whom much more is given." (Luke 12:47-48 NLT)

Haha, oh thanks! Starcraft, I guess I should have known that, I always fought as the Terrans though in that game. Still looks like it was inspired by the original "Alien" though.

We can agree to disagree, but that doesn't help to make your case, I'm afraid. So you are conceding, are you? Cool Shades

I never said agreeing to disagree helped make my case, neither is it a concession though. We can just have a cease fire until we meet again my friend Smile
