Whose?

Simon Moon's. He asked if those verses should be taken literally, you proceeded to talk about their context, didn't address the question.
I am John Cena's hip-hop album.

(January 24, 2017 at 3:40 pm)brostergaming Wrote: For your first question. I personally hate ISIS. I hate the fact that they call themselves muslim and that the media calls them muslims. They have nothing to do with the religion of Islam and cannot say they are killing in the name of Allah because in the quran it says:
“Whoever kills a person [unjustly]…it is as though he has killed all mankind. And whoever saves a life, it is as though he had saved all mankind.” (Qur’an, 5:32)
Them being disbelievers is not a reason to kill people because:
1. In the Quran it says believers include the people of the book (Muslims, Jews and Christians), and ISIS kills those.
2. You should not kill anyone for any reason (except if they killed someone of your family purposely, but if you forgive that person it is better and Allah will forgive your bad deeds more easily)

Extremists have justified their actions as retaliation for the killing of their families for quite some time. Read Bin Laden's letter to the U.S. after the 9/11 attacks, which is accessible online. ISIS uses similar arguments today. The problem with billions of people trying to follow the same old text is that different interpretations will spawn across different regions and different peoples. Who are you to say that the extremist interpretation is not the true one? There is no such thing as a "true Muslim"; all interpretations can be considered valid from a certain point of view. That is the problem with following a religion "of the book."

Quote:Now on your question on my viewpoint of the treatment of women in many of the more conservative Muslim countries/societies. I believe that what you see on the media is not entirely true because I have a friend from Saudi Arabia and people who have visited there and they say the women are happy. However I understand the treatment is not the best but it is slowly improving and will in the future hopefully be just as in any other country.

Right - the more an Islamic society strays away from the literal laws articulated in the Quran, the better the women are treated. Funny how that works...

You know, brostergaming, Quran 5:32 has some missing parts which you didn't quote:

On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our messengers with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land.

I could check it in my study Quran if you like? Al-Jalalayn is good, yes? This is what the Tafisr of 5:32 says:

Al-Jalalayn Wrote:Because of that, which Cain did, We decreed for the Children of Israel that whoever slays a soul for other than a soul, slain, or for, other than, corruption, committed, in the land, in the way of unbelief, fornication or waylaying and the like, it shall be as if he had slain mankind altogether; and whoever saves the life of one, by refraining from slaying, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind — Ibn ‘Abbās said [that the above is meant] in the sense of violating and protecting its [a soul’s] sanctity [respectively]. Our messengers have already come to them, that is, to the Children of Israel, with clear proofs, miracles, but after that many of them still commit excesses in the land, overstepping the bounds through disbelief, killing and the like.

The verse doesn't apply for everyone. Only the Children of Israel (e.g. Jews). I think you're taking verse 5:32 out of its historical context.

What is your opinion of secular government? Is it desirable or not? If not, why not and what would you prefer to see in its place?

Do you understand that all religions are fantasy delusions created by man?

Do you know that your god does not exist except in the mind of men?

As a muslim, can you produce any evidence of your god? Not testimony, not stories, not ancient writings, these are not evidence.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

What is the theology behind it being moral for men to have multiple wives but not for women to have multiple husbands? Always been curious about this one lol. Asked my muslim friend and he had no clue.

A word of advice: don't waste your time on the "questions" that are clearly not genuine questions and are only meant to be condecending.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Quote:Im trying to help you understand islam better.

Why do you start from the presumption that I don't understand Islam? Seems a tad snotty of you.

Quote: Can you be serious?

Possibly, but I wouldn't wager money on it.

Quote: Private message me.

I don't private message anyone, ever. No offense.

Quote: I would like to have a debate about religion.

Make up your mind. First, you want to help me understand Islam, now you want me to debate religion.

Quote:Maybe you can make me an atheist[sic].

Why on earth would I want to do that? Can't swing a dead cat round this place without hitting an atheist.

Next time, before you call all cranky that you didn't get the response you were expecting, take care how you title your posts. 'Ask me anything' means that I can ask you anything. Now, can you help me out with this curry thing or not?
