This is by the speaker of the house of commons, not a biased media outlet.

I fully expect Trump to go "full dictator".

I highly doubt he will be banned from addressing parliament, but he probably wouldn't want to anyway. The speaker was extremely unprofessional and should have kept his personal opinions on the matter to himself but apparently he might be replaced by someone more suitable shortly.

Fingers crossed.

It would be hilarious if he addressed parliament. Only the Tories would turn up, the other parties would boycott it. And this would look really bad for the Tories because Trump is really unpopular in the UK. Especially in Scotland.

Of course the White House would argue that the house was completely full and say that any photos of the other side of the house with the empty seats was fake news. Oh and that a record number of MPs turned up and that there had never been that number of MPs before.

Truly Orwellian. I hope the media fights this attempt to silence them and turn them into Trump propaganda channels tooth and nail.

More reminiscent of a toddler throwing their toys out the pram than of an Orwellian manoeuvre. To be Orwellian one must show a semblance of cunning at the very least, broadcasting that you're lying constantly is thick as shit.

It was only a short while ago he came close to being banned from the country for hate speech.

The way I see it, this is a concentrated effort to undermine what trust is left in Americans for the press -- it's a medium-to-long-term gambit to eliminate the check that a free press exercises on government, not by legislating it, but by sowing suspicion.

Trump administration seen as more truthful than news media: poll

Quote:The Trump administration is more trusted than the news media among voters, according to a new Emerson College poll.

The administration is considered truthful by 49 percent of registered voters and untruthful by 48 percent.

But the news media is less trusted than the administration, with 53 percent calling it untruthful and just 39 percent finding it honest.

The numbers split along party lines, with nearly 9 in 10 Republicans saying the Trump administration is truthful, compared with more than 3 in 4 Democrats who say the opposite.
The Emerson poll found that 69 percent of Democrats think the news media is truthful while 91 percent of Republicans consider the Fourth Estate untruthful.

Independents, meanwhile, believe both the administration and the news media are untruthful, with 52 percent saying the administration is untruthful and 47 percent saying the same about the media.

The poll echoes Gallup's annual poll on the public's trust in media, which showed before the election that 32 percent of Americans trusted the institution, including just 14 percent of Republicans.

The poll was conducted Feb. 5-6 with a sample of 617 registered voters and a margin of error of 3.9 percentage points.

Sigh...

No.6 on the list

Actually on reviewing the list of Fourteen Defining Characteristics Of Fascism, it's amazing just how fast Trump is ticking them all off. And the ones that America has historically had little problem with are the ones most in the news at the moment. Namely 6) controlling the media and 8) government and religion being intertwined and 14) fraudulent elections.

Reducing or eliminating public trust in any competing institutions is the hallmark of the power-mad. Took no great insight on my part, to be sure.

I am aware.

Anything can count as "hate speech" in the UK these days, it's pathetic.
