Love thy neighbor

RE: Love thy neighbor
Scripture cherry picking shouldn't enter into the Amalekite outrage. The Amalekites are all FUCKED forever. God made that ABUNDANTLY clear. If Jesus isn't on board with that, then Jesus is NOT the son of God.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

dyresand is right because Jesus does say in John 15:6 "Whoever does not abide in me is thrown away like a branch and withers; such branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned." I mean the burning of witches, heretics, and atheists throughout the shameful history of Christianity was based on that one cruel verse spoken by the loving Jesus. And Jesus was obsessed with fire, just like his father.

Also you could kill dyresand if his parents decided he was bad boy it was OK by Jesus to implement Moses' law of stoning bad children by people in the city Mark7,10-13 For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death: But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free. And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother;
Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

Also according to Jesus you could kill for all sorts of misdeminors like picking sticks on Saturday or wearing cloths of different color because those were all reasons from the OT and Jesus endorsed them Matthew 5:17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one letter, not one stroke of a letter, will pass from the law until all is accomplished."

But let me guess, you ignore that part. The New Testament is one colossal missed opportunity. This would have been the perfect place for the Word of God to mature into a real moral tale: the old model replaced by the new, anger and jealousy replaced by kindness and understanding. Jesus was like a politician who gets elected, promising sweeping reforms, but immediately takes up with the same old corruption. Why didn't he apologize for his father being a petty control freak? Wasn't he supposed to be better than that? Aren't we?
And if you think that Jesus was not bloodthirsty monster like his dad then you believe Jesus was somebody other than who he claimed to be. In any event, the Jesus of the New Testament thought and taught that he was the God of the Old Testament.

Can you imagine if John 15:6 went like this "It was horribly sexist and cruel for my father to threaten to rape nonbelieving women"

Or Jew. Christians were killing Jews for all sorts of things like for thinking that Jews were stealing wafers and nailing them to wood in order to crucify Jesus again. Thousands and thousands of Jews died for that. But our Lek here never heard of that because to be a Christian today you have got to ignore a lot of people, ignore a lot of history and ignore lots of reason.

So far you've told us what God commanded the Jews to do in the old testament and what some christians have done since, but you haven't shown how God allows me to murder Dyersand. Most atheists don't believe it's right to murder, but many have atheists have murdered. He did demand that a lot of blood be shed during the pre-Christ era, but if people would have obeyed, no blood would have been shed. Since Jesus shed his blood for us the price has been paid and the need for us to shed blood is gone. We have peace with God through Jesus.

That'd be the way to get me to stop fighting, that's for sure.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

- Bible.

Jesus specifically said love your enemies. Not that non Christians are enemies, but if you're supposed to love your enemies, clearly you're supposed to love people who are simply a different religion from you.

Only if they're christian other than that fuck your enemies. Also jesus said follow the OT he didn't come
to change anything.

Matthew 5:17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them."
Literally jesus said he didn't come back to change jack shit.
The OT is still the book "christians" need to follow even jesus said so right there. And without the OT literally christianity and even islam itself wouldn't exist.
the OT is the basis for both religions and yet christians like you are so quick to throw it out. You're supposed savior wants everyone to follow the OT yet dismiss it
for the NT or Koran. Again you don't have to love me at all because again you can kill me and get those brownie points.
Atheism is a non-prophet organization join today.

Construing Jesus as overruling God on any matter God has made abundantly clear is settled as far as He is concerned is apostasy.

And don't get me started on Apostle Paul over ruling Jesus AND God . . . .

We have peace?! Wow, redefining another word so it's basically meaningless.

Peace with God through Jesus as long as one does not have a heretical take on Jesus' message.

Why the fuck am I always having to issue pleas and entreaties to believers to PLEASE do their religion CORRECTLY ?

Why is there never a seeming impulse amongst the believers to comport instead of reinterpret ??

Quote:Jesus specifically said love your enemies.

Yes, it was the church which came up with the concept of "inimicus" meaning a personal enemy and "hostis" meaning a common enemy in order to get around the prohibition of the alleged jesus.  So they adapted the sayings of the so-called jesus to "love the guy who is like us that happens to hate you" into "it's okay to kill those smelly barbarians."

Not that it helped.  In 410 the Goths went through them like shit through a goose.

RE: Love thy neighbor
Just to get it straight about us being under the old law.  Jesus said he didn't come to destroy the law, but to fulfill it, which he did.  The law didn't pass away, but what was fulfilled.  The reason that the bigwig Jews wanted to get rid of Jesus was that he was announcing the end of the whole Jewish system and was, therefore, a threat to their authority and power.  If the old law was to remain in effect, then there would have been no reason for Jesus to come in the first place.  No Vorion, you don't need to tell us how to interpret God's word because you don't know how to.  If you did, you would cite the verses which specifically state that we are not under the law, but instead you ignore them.
