Anyone drive a plug-in electric car?

Anyone drive a plug-in electric car?
I'm seriously considering buying a plug-in EV very soon. The price of late-model Leafs is pretty compelling. Environmental considerations aside - which are nonetheless important - the total cost of ownership is ridiculously low even if I depreciate it to zero in 5-6 years. Electricity is ~.08/kWh. Our current second vehicle is 20 years old and has 180K miles on it and I'd really rather not put any more into repairing it, including what it currently needs.

It seems a no-brainer.

Anyone drive one? What do you like about it? What do you dislike?

not what you asked, however, friend of mine has a Prius. I've ridden in it and it's nice enough. The display on the dash of how the drive system is configured and working is interesting to watch.

Only complaint my friend has had concerned high cost of repairs. Per mile costs have been as advertised, however. Vehicle seems highly resistant to hail damage too, LOL !!!

If you've got the 70k bucks, go for a tesla. Those things are cool.

I ain't driving no stinking sewing machine motor!

On a serious note, Musk has said that in 20 years the most common car sold will be fully autonomous with no steering wheel.

Oh, my friend from upstate bought one of those and we drove around with it last Saturday! It was awesome! It was a long drive for him, and we went to an out-of-the-way flea market, and even by the end of the day, his battery only dropped about 45%. I asked him how his electric bill was affected by having it charge at home and it seemed to be negligible, so he's saving a fortune on gas! I've got a settlement (or lawsuit, depending on if the insurance company tries to fuck me over on how much they're going to offer) pending from a car-on-bike collision so if I get a good amount, I'm definitely looking into electric for a car if I do end up getting one (I hate driving...)
Religions were invented to impress and dupe illiterate, superstitious stone-age peasants. So in this modern, enlightened age of information, what's your excuse? Or are you saying with all your advantages, you were still tricked as easily as those early humans?

LOL, I would never pay that kind of money for a car.

An all electric vehicle is a smart choice for something that doesn't get driven too far away from a charging station. There are two charging stations at the senior center here in town, powered by solar panels. It would appear that they are free. I'm pretty sure that the homeowners pay some big bucks for the electricity, but maybe don't want to admit it, though I haven't bothered to dig up any truth, one way or the other. TANSTAAFL. In any event, if they are on the grid, all they've managed to do is move the pollution out of state, since I live in California.

If I was rich I would totally waste the money on a tesla. Being not rich, I drive a dodge minivan. Lol

A hybrid would be a second choice, but cost of repairs is a serious concern - an all electric doesn't need a host of subsystems that a modern dinosaur powered car has. My commute is at worst 34 miles round trip, perfect for an electric. If I only had one car it would probably be a hybrid.

I rode in a newer Prius on a Lyft ride last month. I know what you mean about the status display. Quiet ride even with the gasoline engine on, and seemed to have ample power even on hills. The financials aren't nearly as compelling though. Nice cars, though.
