Defensively -- cut firelines where possible to establish a perimeter on favorable ground, back those up with airdrops to keep the vegetation as wet as possible, and stage your supplies and units to keep those firebreaks working.

Most everything inside the perimeter is going to have to burn itself out.

I wonder if any of the crews from here are helping out with the gorge. They have lots of experience in and around canyons and in the rough terrain.

the scary part is that if winds shift and start blowing from the east again the fire could potentially spread to some heavily populated areas.

We had smoke haze/red sun all day Monday. I think it was smoke from the Montana fires but could have been from Wa/Id also.

The teenager(s) who started this are going to be in big civil trouble I think - even if they manage to avoid felony convictions.
