Paranoia
How many years it took you to extinguish fear of hell?

RE: Paranoia
I am fortunate, because my church never battered me over the head with hellfire and brimstone. We did grow up believing that hell was a lake of fire where bad people go, but I never feared it. At this point it's like I'm likely going to inevitably go there, whether I pretend to worship this god or not, so why spend my life in fear?

Not long. Well under a year, I'd say.
About as long as it takes (for me) to break, change, or adopt any other habit.

Because it wasn't so much of an actual fear, as it was an intrusive thought.

Since I was never convinced that gawd existed, I never really bought onto his torture porn playground either.

Do you have doubts that God might exist in some form or the other?

How do you deal with the idea that you will "fall asleep" in a dream without dreams someday and won't wake up? Although, when you hear world religions offering you a slav... I mean service to the Lord as alternative, it's as bad as being dead.

Yeah, there are too many similarities between Jesus' stories, and stories of other savior figures for me to really take him seriously. Likely more reasons than that to stop believing, other than just being disgusted with parts of the bible, and not wanting to follow someone like that, even if he did exist.
