Anti-Theism
RE: Anti-Theism
Ok, now:

What part of any of that is remotely hinted at in your bible story?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I didn't give you a bible story. I will assume that your talking about the story of creation from the bible. Biblical creation is a farce as there are no verbs in the autographed language of the bible that can possibly be translated as "creation, create". The verbs in the autographed languages all have to do with making, forming, building, founding.

The word "creation" is a transliteration of the Latin creatura and given the Latin idea of ex nilio(from nothing). Well, how stupid is that?! Yet, it's taught every Sunday. Somehow, tradition has superseded the Word of God!

How many times is religion going to butt heads with science and get their asses kicked. Yet, when I look at the autographed language I see no contradiction between science and the bible. The bible explains somethings that science observes and science explains somethings I read in the bible. Things like the rib which has marrow loaded with multipotent stem cells and which rib also grows back if the surgeon leaved the sheath that houses it intact.

We couldn't know why the bible said such things until recently. Or, why Genesis 1:1 says bara which means: carve, or whittle but can also mean to speak into existence. NOT CREATES! Quantum physics, as it relates to the mechanics of the vacuum as energy has no disagreement on the mechanical possibility. I didn't know why it said that until I started studying quantum physics.

2,000yrs ago the church didn't understand it so they made up some shit creation story. Remember, they said the world was flat and the bible actually states the it is a sphere! They also believe in a young earth which is also not biblical according to the syntax.

So again, I didn't give you a story.

RE: Anti-Theism
Here's the problem from my perspective.

At least once a week, even here in NZ, I have someone knock on my door, try to approach me in the street, drop stuff in my mailbox (don't they know what "addressed mail only" means?), or shout at myself as part of a crowd about their deity.

I've even had someone start telling a whole crowd on the teain once about his god, until I shut him up.

I keep getting asked why I hate god? I can't hate what I don't believe in, though I can hate the antics of his followers.

I also get sick of the religious conservatives who think they can tell the rest of us how to live. Even in easy going Aus, the conservatives whined when gay marriage was passed.

"It undermines biblical marriage!" Which biblical marriage is that? The man and his slave? The man and his brother's widow? The man, his wife, and his concubines?

Each to their own, but I will fight tooth and nail if you use your religion to harm others, to deny rights to others, or try to push it on us through any medium.
Dying to live, living to die.

Thanks for sharing. I would say that "everyone has their own cross(stick with a point: stake) to bear" except, that would be stupid as Jesus merely said that if you wish to learn more from him, in His day, you would have to pull up your tent stakes, physically carry them, and follow Him because He ain't gonna be there tomorrow. Yet, somehow people say, "they bear their cross and die daily". It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

No joke, I suffer from PGAD, Persistent Genital Arousal Disorder. It is a rare disorder that is extremely rare in males. It feels like someone is sucking your dick and bringing you to orgasm over and over again 24/7. It is a good thing except it never stops and has left me disabled. There is no off switch. Does it sound like fun? If you were in my shoes, in a week you would throw them back at me.

I'll spare you the TMI systematic response system gory details.

The suicide rate among suffers is extremely high as that is the only known cure. Can you imagine being a grandmother and orgasming every time you see your grandkids? Everything you love will trigger it. Everything you do will trigger it. Laying down, standing up, sitting, walking, driving, working with your hands.

I'll be fine--promise. You be fine too!

Piece of advice, Haipule - and this goes for any other godhead who thinks they can preach at me without my biting back.

Keep your childish god and your magic jew the fuck away from my life if you don't want it damaged. I will not need to say that again.

I don't know about NZ but here in the US, it's actually illegal to do that. In fact I think the exact law is that only postal service employees are allowed to put anything in there, stamped or otherwise. You might complain to your postal service and see if there's recourse. Here, they will send a cease and desist letter to the sender (if there's a return address) and if they don't comply, will prosecute them. And I believe it's a federal crime.

I'm not anti-theist, hell some of my best friends are theists but I'm not sure I'd want my daughter to marry one... oops, my daughter did marry one.

I really think many of the people here have some problem with theists, at least that is the impression I get from the intense vitriol vented against them. That leaves me unimpressed. After all they are no less human than I or any other atheist.

Granted much grief has been committed by religious groups but that does not mean that every theist is some sort of monster.

Well I could go on and on but think I'll just stop here.

It's theism and theistic claims I have issues with, not theists per se. Why is this so hard to grasp?

It's the thing i never get:

God watches when people do terrible things, then punishes them later.

If I see people doing terrible things I intervene and take immediate responsibility.

Weak god, un-caring god...

Or just non-existent.
