I was with you right up to this part: "So the problem I think is the staff that are supposed to be making decisions based on the atmosphere of this forum....rarely know the atmosphere of this forum.."
Just because some of us 'rarely' post out here - and I'd be interested in knowing how you're quantifying that - doesn't mean we don't post at all. There's a whole hidden forum behind this one, for Staff only (and a super-top-level one only available to Admins). One downside is that nothing posted there adds to our postcount, nor do we have kudos. Notwithstanding all that, we do keep our fingers on the pulse of the forum proper, even if only passively.
Just because you can't see us doesn't mean we're not watching. It sort of goes with the job.
