I'mmmmmm poopinnn
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Well, the Bible and Jesus couldn't kick Satan's butt, looks like Trump with a little mainland China strategy has scored a goal.

And of course, the complacency and willingness to be pandered to by US Christians helped a whole big bunch !!

Poor Jesus!  Poor Satan!!  Both fucked by Trump !!!

I see why they are called Christians. They worship Christ by giving the utmost respect to and never touching any of Jesus's intellectual properties (although truth be told there seem to have been patent applications recorded for this before Jesus got around to fucjing his own mother), while they fight Satan by infringing on all of his intellectual properties.

The problem with "independent" voters, for all their smug attitudes about how they don't get involved in dirty politics, is that they exempt themselves from the process of picking the nominees and then are stuck with whatever wins the party primaries.

Really? That's odd, I voted in the most recent primaries as an independent. (Yes, I had to check a box that essentially stated "For the purposes of this vote, I am a democrat").`

As far as smug attitudes, the only one here I'm detecting is from you. So whatever.

You and I both, CD. I don't get it. I don't get how he ever got as far as he did in the first place, much less won the primaries.

The one theory I've heard is that a lot of people (those who voted for him in the primaries) were just over the "PC culture", having words like bigot and racist tossed around, being demonized for being more conservative, etc etc. It made an atmosphere of "us verses them". A lot of people felt alienated and just sick of it. And to them, Trump kind of represented the opposite. It was different and new. The "other side" hated him the most, so perhaps conservatives saw it as the biggest eff you to their opposition and kind of a way to get back at them.

I think at the root for many voters in the 2016 election, is that they didn't precisely know what they wanted, but they knew they didn't want what we had.  And the two parties were ballsy enough to trot out the idea of Hillary Clinton vs. Jeb Bush as the presumptive candidates.

If ever there was a campaign to abandon the status quo, it was this one, with the most statusy of all possible quo's for candidates.  Hence Bernie and Trump.  Why not Kasich?  Because if you're going to go with Kasich, you might as well have gone with Bush.  Oh shit, they don't like Jeb, let's give them someone exactly like Jeb as an alternative.

To the point of Trump fucking porn stars.  You don't need to be black to support civil rights.  You don't need to be a woman to support women's rights.  You don't need to be a good christian to promote christian issues.

Uhhhh, You can't be lynching blacks while supporting civil rights, you can't be dragging women by their hair while supporting women's rights, and you sure can't promote Christian values while trying to perpetuate the rule of the worst liar and philanderer to ever rule from the white House.

And oh, fuck off.

I think you're mistaken.  I think that's usually what we're forced to settle for.  And I think being really fucking skeptical is reasonable.

But in the end, I'd say Trump delivered on the religious liberties campaign promise with his Supreme Court pick.

Whose worse? Newt who served divorce papers on his wife when she was recovering from cancer treatment to marry the woman he was cheating with while his wife was undergoing chaemo, or Trump who perved on, and likely molested (up to and including raped) his thirteen year opd daughter?

Lol, I hate Trump too, but let's not get stupid. He didn't rape or molest his daughter.

(actually, he was better at it than they were and I think that hurt him too).  Reagan comes along, tells them what they want to hear (actually brazenly pandering to them) and they loved it despite Reagan evincing no sign of any Christian depth, piety or fealty in his personal life.  And damn little in his actions as prez . . . . .

Was thinking that, the evangels had their president and realised they didn't want a man who held to the best (hypothetical) ideals of christianity, they simply wanted a man who hated on the joos, the gheys & the wimkinz.
