The privilege of being called hypocrites.

The privilege of speaking our opinions, and give reasons for them?

Already read it. Not nearly as good as "Thus Spake Zarathustra"

Sure. There's no excuse for obnoxiously interjecting into an unrelated conversation. That said, a thread that starts "Hey Christians..." is just asking for it. Otherwise, what I see is not straight up street-corner style preaching (which isn't that against the rules anyway?); but rather, GC, Drich, myself and others addressing objections to the faith on threads explicitly about religious topics, like the Trinity, or giving Christian perspectives in threads about morality or philosophy of mind. I don't recall any theist going "Objective morality is based in a divine reality...so repent and accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior! "

Being able to start threads titled "Damn Atheists"...wait...I guess we can't do that.

Wanting to get to know someone and hoping to persuade them to your point of view are not mutually exclusive. I see nothing wrong with either 1) getting to know strangers so you can share with them the hope in your heart OR 2) sharing the Gospel with someone you already know.

It seems to me that being indifferent to the spiritual needs of strangers is uncaring particularly if you think you have something really important and helpful to share. If two people are traveling and both are thirsty it would be selfish for one not offer the other a swig for water. That's not "fixing" someone or having an ulterior motive. Nor must this impulse come from a feeling of personal superiority. Christians accept their own brokenness and are grateful for the Grace they know they do not deserve.

The bold part is the crux of it.

Do Christians not believe atheists when they say "I have no spiritual needs or deficiencies?" Because that's really what the fundamental disagreement is about, isn't it? With the rest of it (civility and whatnot) simply being symptoms of it?

I have spiritual needs. I just don't see them as being well served by the panacea that theists are offering.

If requiring alcohol is a spiritual need, then call me a follower of Dionysus.

RoadRunner!!

Why you vote no??? Lol.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

May I suggest a Martini made of 3 parts Mt. Terrier, 1 part Doulin Vermouth, and two olives served in a glass molded to the shape of Marie Antoinette's breast.

It sounded good until that final suggestion.

Of course, it's not like the majority of Christian forums, which have a mind boggling amount of censorship or limit atheists to one tiny section of the forum.

Plus personally I like a few of the theists on here.
