WAY TO GO RANDY MOSS!
#11
RE: WAY TO GO RANDY MOSS!
Raising awareness causes people to try and do things. Maintaining awareness ensures people continue to do things.

The NFL have a breast cancer awareness week every year. Do you think people aren’t aware of breast cancer? No, it’s to maintain awareness and ensure people donate to causes that try and eliminate breast cancer.

The same applies here. Randy Moss wearing that tie is not him doing nothing. He’s raising awareness, keeping the issue in people’s minds. Who knows what he does in terms of donating to causes in his own time.

At least kneeling is doing something. Although the idea that kneeling or wearing a tie is the best a bunch of multimillionaires can do to solve a problem is laughable.

The other funny thing is the crap you atheist forum people are giving me. I mean think about it for a moment.

Me: wearing a tie is an ineffective solution to police violence towards minorties..
You all: but raising awareness!
Me: no, we need real solutions to solve this problem.
You: you fucking asshole!

I mean, what? You are actually the ones who don't give a shit. Just people jerking off each other raising awareness.

You can say the phrase raising awareness all you want, it still doesn't mean anything if it's an issue literally everyone is already aware of.

I believe the breast cancer week also raises money. Other at least points people towards a particular foundation they can donate to.

If it doesn't do that, then it's totally worthless too. Everyone knows breast cancer exists.

You should look up what "raising awareness" means.

It's not about "making people aware". The key word is "raising". Yes, many people, if not all people, are aware of police brutality. Raising awareness increases their awareness of specific incidents, or of the need to do more to prevent it. It isn't worthless if it encourages people to go do something. Did Randy Moss wearing that tie cause more people to go and do something, maybe donate to some causes? Maybe, maybe not, but neither of us can say for sure, so I'm not sure why you seem intent on mocking an action that may have caused some good.

Bold mine.
1. What are YOU doing to solve the problem other than mocking people that are raising awareness (which, is doing something)?
2. Where did anyone call you a fucking asshole?
3. If someone wearing a tie isn't having a profound and negative effect on your personal life, then why do you care if that's the way someone shows support?
Take your negative vibes elsewhere because clearly, you don't get it or anything else.

Lol, okay you called me a dick, not a fucking asshole. Do you lack a total sense of irony? You say I have a negative additude, but yet you are the one hurling insults and making personal attacks. I mean, what?

I've done an equal amount to combat racial injustice as Randy Moss did by wearing that tie. What have you done to combat racial injustice.

Sorry for pissing on you raising awareness thing. You know what else pisses on it? Science.

Raising awareness doesn't do anything, and in fact sometimes is detrimental.

I mean why aren't people just honest and say they are happy that Randy Moss (although it's not like he had any intellectual credentials) believes in the same cause as you.

Also I'll post whatever I want. I think raising awareness is totally silly, worthy of mockery and you telling me not to post about it just makes me want to post about it more.

Raising awareness doesn't do anything. I encourage you to read some of the studies done on it.

It's worthy of mockery cause it's funny that people think wearing a different tie does something. I mean, how is that not funny? I mean, that's funny. More than that Brian's specific "WAY TO GO RANDY MOSS!" is funny .. When I opened the thread and found out it was about wearing a tie, I laughed. It's funny and worthy of mockery. I think South Park made fun of raising awareness

Also he's a multimillionaire with huge resources. He could like, actually do something effective.

Correction. I didn't call you a dick. I said that you shouldn't BE one just because you HAVE one. But if you'd like me to call you a dick, I can accommodate that.

Dick.

There. Feel better?

Jesus h handbasket. You win the most nitpicky forum member of the day award. Saying someone shouldn't be a dick is the exact same thing as calling them a dick. It's meant for the same reaction.

It's funny how you explode about this stuff and then accuse me of caring too much cause I make fun of it. Lolwat?

RE: WAY TO GO RANDY MOSS!
The real solution to the problem, Cap'n is to tell cops to stop shooting unarmed people whenever the fuck they feel like it.  The way to do that is to throw a bunch of them in jail for murder.

My senses tell me that you are not ready for that.

It's clearly not just a tie. He knows that there are possible repercussions for wearing that tie in that venue-- seriously professional ones, maybe. Surely this must be seen as an act of bravery in support of a cause?

I very much like seeing black people stand up to be heard, and what better venue than pro sports, the one place where a lot of white people really care what black people are doing?
