Offensive penalties in the red zone.

Offensive penalties in the red zone.
All is fair in love and war, and football is all about deception and misdirection.

But, asking all college and NFL fans here, how often do you think an offense deliberately commits an off sides, delay of game, or false start in order to give their receivers a longer field to make a touchdown?

I have seen teams that get down to say the 5 or less, get a 5 yard penalty, only to, on the next play get a touchdown off a pass. Lets face it, when you are below the 10 yard line it is harder to pass because the field is shorter.

Thanks for the update.

That was for the fans into the game. I certainly hope nobody ends up in the hospital or dead over my question.

I remember my old high school coach saying - "anyone who takes a stupid penalty will find a size 12 shoe up his ass."

It was a great motivator.

I agree with stupid penalties and a coach giving a player hell. I am not talking about that. I think in the red zone, when a team is not good at running, they may commit one to back the ball up to give their receivers more space. Even if they are good at running, it is harder to pass when the field is that short.

Since both teams can do it, it really isn't an unfair advantage so I have no fuck's to give.
