RE: The Newly Departed thread: announcements (departures)

Well I've had nearly two weeks to mellow out. I've been in and out without posting but just watching. I've spoken about it all to others and even been involved in a conversation with Tibs on the other site. I do think I got overly upset when people were attacking each other and then got upset over people being against being nice. I should have just removed myself from the conversation. I have realized that even if the hostility wasn't my thing I do enjoy other aspects of this site and I don't want to lose that. I wasn't too active before due to my job so I still may just be in and out but I will stick around and wanted to apologize for my involvement in the blow up.

It's good to have you back. I know you're a well-liked member here. It would be a bummer to lose you.
As for the nice thing, it's a nuanced situation. For my part, I'm not against being nice. I'm against being forced to be nice to people who aren't nice, but just don't swear when they're being assholes. That doesn't matter now, as the ship has sailed and we're working behind the scenes to make things easier for both the staff and the members. Lots of good suggestions were made, so there's a lot to go through. Be patient and you may find that we've compromised.

compromises are where neither side gets what they want and just agree to settle. I see it as you've improved the site and will continue to improve on it for everyone.

Sometimes. In 1787 the "Founding Fathers" made a compromise which treated slaves as 3/5 of a person.
Some compromises are really fucking stupid.

Nope. Captain Awesome, joods, Hammy and CL used the other forum to try to dox her, question her authenticity, and outright lie about her on at least one point. Now CA is celebrating how great he is.
I’m happy that several of them never intend to return.

I felt the same way once. I don't have a problem with CL, but I do wish she would've stayed out of it.
That's all I'm going to say about it because I don't want that particular drama coming back over here. I just wanted anyone who missed Val to know who to thank for her absence.
