And that's a good thing.

But I've never been closeted about my atheism. One of the main draws to a place like this (for me anyway) is that people value critical thinking and science. 

Lots of woo, religion, and pseudoscience elsewhere-- when you're talking about the deep stuff, anyway. And this is despite the fact that atheism has become more mainstream.

When you flounce out and then talk lots of crap about the place you left knowing your ranting will be seen by those you flounced away from, there's not really a smooth way to slink back in.  The spying is about carrying information back to the new group and/or hoping to find that someone is wishing (no, pining) for your return.

What, are The New Forum ™ still pissing and moaning about us? I know there were a lot of legitimate gripes about the atmosphere here at the time (though 95% of the atmosphere was created by CL and the five amigos she was bent on cheer-leading), but the few times I looked over there it was ridiculous what was being bandied about about this site.

Ah, that was just about titles. Ultimately, our thread title policy covered what we wanted. It was a work in progress. We’re not perfect.
