My husband has been working on machinery since he was a kid...from lawn mowers to mini bikes to cars to tractor trailers. Then he moved to factory maintenance. He and I together could not count all the injuries, particularly to his hands, he has had. He has fingers with little to no feeling in them any more and an X-ray of either hand reveals little bits of metal and gawd knows what else.
He left Pepsi after 25 years last fall and started at another factory. In pretty short order he was at the ER getting stitches to try to keep the end of one finger from falling off. Not long after he came home bleeding profusely from his other hand and said that I needed to fix it because he hadn't been on the job long enough to take the risk of another worker's comp injury. Super glue and some serious bandaging got him through that.
This doesn't include back injuries, burns, scrapes, bumps on the head, and a burn on his eyelid from some slag that flew off something he was welding.

Yeah, I've also ground off a piece of finger (it grew back) in a disc sander, and had welding slag in my armpit. I have so many scars on my hands that the part number of a Volvo exhaust manifold that was accidentally branded into the back of my right hand is no longer legible. I was soldering some copper pipe under a house one time and when I rolled over to get out from under it, I brushed my arm against that tee, with the flux still sizzling. I spit on it and blew on it to cool it off, because I had to crawl 20 feet under the house to get out to cold water. Good times!

Most memorable burn - MIG welding - slag went into my left ear and burned a hole in the bottom of the eardrum. Painful and LOUD.
Weird feeling - air going in and out of your ear. It did eventually heal - some hearing loss....

That's inappropriate.
He enjoyed it.
