I'm guessing you're doing the glass tube.

If the elevator doesn't have a gadget to play the transporter sound I'm going to be very disappointed.

Indeed. I recently received a proposal on the project and a conventional elevator isn't feasible. That's okay because my first choice was the pneumatic elevator; specifically the PVE 37.

I didn't look at the links.
Had a vision in my mind of Gwaithmir snapping himself into one of those things at the bank drive thru that gets sucked up the tube and over to the teller.
Gave me a little chuckle.
The model I'm having installed is the PVE37, which is slightly larger than the one shown here.

You'll have to ask Willy Wonka about that one.

Today my carpenter removed the stairs going from the main floor to the attic. A technician from the elevator company will meet with us here tomorrow to take final measurements of the distances between floors, as well as the thickness of each floor. Fabrication of the elevator shaft segments will begin as soon as these measurements are received at the factory. Time for fabrication should not exceed a month. The actual installation, once all the parts get here, should not take more than two days.

Update: Final measurements of the stairwell were taken today. It will take a month to fabricate the elevator shaft, but it will probably take another month for all the paperwork and shipping.
With a little luck, installation will take place shortly after Labor Day.
