It's actually a Chinese curse that one says as an indicator that you might wish some one ill fortune.

*Thinks: I don't like you*

*Says: "May you have 'Interesting' times."

(As in none of your encounters actually be pleasant. May all your future encounters actually be bad)

Hmm, that would be quite handy when I watch "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" Big Grin
BTW I love that period of Chinese history, but I don't know a thing about the language since it's very alien to me.

Alternative is "May you lead an interesting life." Not happy, not successful, but interesting, like Frodo in LOTR.
