No internal monologue

RE: No internal monologue
I always keep my monologue internal.

Last time I trieds to monologue out loud the "hero" shot me and blew up my secret base.

Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni:

"You did WHAT?  With WHO?  WHERE???"

Can all of you guys let an orchestra or band or fantasy instrument play random stuff in your head at will?
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

No.

When I try it's usually the Imperial March and it sounds like it's played on a xylophone by a one armed phychopath with Parkinsons...

I haven't had time to read the paper yet. And given it's all over the internet there's bound to be exaggerations and misapplications.

On the surface I think most psychologists know people can have thoughts without them being verbal. Children obviously think before they learn to speak, and people who were born deaf never hear an audible language to think with. I think Helen Keller wrote something about what it was like to think for her.

The surprise for me would be if people who already know and use language, aren't incorporating it into their thoughts. I don't believe it, but I look forward to reading the paper and seeing if I'm wrong. I think this is the study:

I'm sure that I don't represent all but yes I often have music in my head. It's rarely original and usually begins with hearing something tangential.

What is a fantasy instrument?

Follow up, for those that can hear music in their heads...does it take more directed attention to accomplish it?

Unless you're into Freudian ideas, we speak of things being processed unconsciously not subconsciously in modern-day psychology and neuroscience. Aren't you a fan of AST? Read any of Grazaino's papers, he makes constant mention of unconscious stimuli, etc., never to the subconscious lol.
