I don't have a great ear for tones, so Chinese was harder for me to get right, but I didn't really find either more difficult than the other. It's hard to compare. I found the grammar in Chinese easier than that of Japanese, but Japanese was easier to pronounce, so it kind of evens out.
Ok well no offense if I'm wrong but I think you might be fibbing about learning Chinese/Japanese because I've found Chinese significantly easier than Japanese in all ways, perhaps because I don't find pronouncing the Chinese tones difficult at all, and also because Japanese is a much more formal language than Chinese.

Yeah. I'm lying. That's the only explanation.
Suits me for actually taking you seriously.

Can you say "sayonara" the Japanese way, instead of the English way?

That's interesting. I'm a native Spanish speaker, and I remember trying to learn Portuguese using Duolingo or one of those apps and it was impossible. The language is so similar that I had no problem knowing which picture to click or what the right answer was. In other words I was passing the class but I wasn't learning the language.

Well the "shit for brains" part threw me off, but now I can see how "sayonara" could mean "go away" if spoken in a rude tone.

Mandarin is consistently ranked as one of the hardest languages to learn. Your statements only suggest that you are the one talking out of your ass. But I'll throw you a bone. I still pronounce the word sake like the Japanese word for salmon and even though I do know the correct pronunciation of the name Mitsuko, I still pronounce it like an American 99 times out of 100. Now, go do whatever dance people with shit for brains do whenever they feel that they've accomplished something.

Cantonese is a lot easier than Mandarin, you know.
