I have a firm belief that Atheism can have a spirituality.

It involves noticing, appreciating and loving the beauty in randomness and the grace in coincidence.

I remember being carried

to deny you are the god humanity must save

A little ditty I wrote elsewhere, kind of a "anti-footprints" thingy.

this is exactly what I am talking about.

My friend who was also once religious and I are trying to write music entirely dedicated to concepts of atheism to try and create the same uplifting feeling that religious music does.


that was one of the main reasons I remained a believer so long, to be honest. the music. for a singer, it's amazing. there is no reason we can't have the same though.

"God" is an identity enhancement; the hymn is but a tribute to the higher self. Many atheists don't go in for that "higher self" perspective, and something that comes across as "spiritual" is immediately rebuked. Spirituality can exist between atheists; I didn't mean to imply that it could not, but when two or more atheists are "grooving to the same waveform" it is almost as if a theism is being created.

What unites us seems to be dry practicalities; rational expression, critical thought. It seems almost anathema to the "frivolity" of musical creation.
