That you know of. There are many ways to hide it.
There's no hiding the stench of bologna. In the fire station, I most often saw my meal prepped in front of me. Not that it was great, but no, "horsecock" in the USAF referred directly to spam.

I liked the chicken or turkey a la king. decent if not stellar. Stayed away from the meatballs in BBQ sauce, or any other MRE with a tomato-sauce base ... unless I was constipated.
My two favorite things were the tiny bottles of hot sauce, and the three-packs of Marlboro reds. Matches not included.

I kept a P38 for a long time. Better for C rats, which were already done by the time I enlisted in 89. But I had one my dad gave me and thought it might come in handy, so it stayed in the pocket of my duffel bag.

I was in at the time of the transition from C rats to MREs.

Yeah, C-rats were in surplus stores by the time I enlisted. I ate plenty of them, and K-rats too, thanks to my dad, who was in until 1972. I remember liking the peanut butter and the peaches, but at six years old I had no idea if they were actually good.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I had a mate in the UK who served in Vietnam and affectionately referred to ham and lima beans in the ration kit as ‘ham and motherfuckers’.

Those were a staple in Boy Scout field emergency kits.

OMG, remember the scout dinners that would be wrapped in foil and put on the edge of the fire? Mine were usually undercooked, burnt past the point of eating or would fall apart and end up the fire.
