Lazy Atheism?
RE: Lazy Atheism?
I'd like to know what the hell "lazy atheism" is. I don't believe in a god or gods. I was raised in the church and even as a little kid, I just didn't buy into it. No matter what I was presented in my 67 years, I am still not convinced that there is reason to believe. Maybe it's the believers who are the lazy ones. Show me some proof of what it is you preach.

And...supposedly holy books written by men aren't proof. They are stories.

Maybe it doesn't want to.  Maybe it hates our guts.  Maybe it can't do a damned thing about human beings cooking up religions.  Maybe it hasn't even noticed.

Maybe it doesn't even exist.

It's a bullshit term made up by god-botherers to denigrate non-believers.

An omniscient entity hasn't noticed... Now there's a mind bender.
OTOH if it were omniscient would it be stark raving insane? Just the content of the internet would likely inflict that.

RE: Lazy Atheism?
I think lazy atheism doesn't need to worry about what hypothetical attributes hypothetical gods have. If we notice that there's no unity of theistic faith - then we can simply say that gods.....if they exist...for whatever reason or no reason at all, can't or won't effect it.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
RE: Lazy Atheism?
I know folks who are very lazy about leprechauns, too. Should they be working harder to justify their aleprechaunism? I think so. I'm still waiting for the next David Hume to lay out the case why faeries not only don't wear boots, but don't exist at all.

Is not as much about being omniscient, but about being fundamentally fair. If a deity which is fair and benevolent wants to reveal a religion to humans, it seems fundamentally fair that it would reveal a religion to all humans, not just a portion of it

It's really common for people to assume that an omniscient deity would have the same opinions they do.

Which is fine if those opinions seem reasonable. You don't need all the knowledge in the unviverse to have an opinion on something. You just need all the relevant knowledge.
RE: Lazy Atheism?
Is pointing out the lack of evidence an example of so-called "lazy atheism"?
