So gamers are quibbling about the price of the upcoming GTA6 game because it will cost between $80 and $100.
And indeed, imagine paying $100 just to play a realistic game about a guy who can't even pay his rent.
But when you think about it, games were always priced around $100 (if you account for inflation), at least in the 20th century. When you bought Combat for your Atari console in the 70s, you probably paid around $100. Granted, you also had to pay for the hardware that it came out on, but today you just download it.
Still, if any game is worth $100, I think it would be the new GTA because you know they put a lot of effort into it—not just a lot but probably the most work anyone has ever put into a game.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I typically paid no more than $20 for a game. I spent a lot on a couple of games which I never played, so now I'm more careful about buying games that I'll play if I spend a lot on a game. The only games over $25 I've bought recently are DOA5LR with a ton of costumes (for the costumes), Atelier Yumia at $78 ($25 extra for the costumes, which I probably could have skipped), Fatal Frame II Remake at $70 ($20 extra for the costumes which I'm glad I bought), and Star Wars Outlaws at $30 (it's basically like Assassin's Creed which I know that I like).

XBOX just raised the price of their consoles. This morning, Target discounted the console off its old price. It's always unpredictable. I bought a 2TB SSD card for my XBOX in April and yesterday Newegg was selling them for $30 less.

Microsoft has filed a patent for ads that could interrupt games after boss fights, cutscenes, quests and multiplayer rounds
Players would receive credits granting temporary game access, while watching an ad would award another credit to let them resume.

People boycotted Playstation because of their digital only venture and having stated so.ething to the effect of purchasing not meaning ownership.
I didn't participate in the boycott because I knew it was pointless and also because I haven't owned a physical copy in too many years.
With books, we've seen digital prices decrease despite there still being physical copies. But something tells me Playstation doesn't plan on lowering prices just because they're going all digital.

Not gaming news but software news.
AI is now being used to recreate Adobe’s software, a developer has released seven free, open-source apps as clean-room alternatives to Adobe’s main tools:
- PhotoCraft → Photoshop
- VectorCraft → Illustrator
- FilmCraft → Premiere Pro
- LightCraft → Lightroom
- EffectCraft → After Effects
- DesignCraft → InDesign
- PDFCraft → Acrobat Pro
Built in Rust with help from Claude Opus 5.5, they run on Windows, Linux, and macOS under MIT/Apache licenses without using Adobe’s source code.

Look at it this way: If Adobe goes to court with these guys and wins, that sets the precedent that Intellectual Property is copyright protected from AI
So either Adobe gets destroyed by this knock off, or they go to court and destroy AI exploitation of other people's IP
