I hear Lauren Boebert may be quitting Congress to spend more time with her son's parole officer.

however

Dont wanna spoil all the fun, but (i am gonna to): Even in the bluest of blue districts ca. 25% of voters were going "Trump, Vance, Hegseth, Kushner, the corruption, the incompetence, the unnecessary wars, the racism, FUCK YEAH!"

As a european citizen i would like to keep good relations with the US, especially with administrations that are non-republican, but also to keep them at an arms lenght for good measure, for now.

It's a step in the right direction.  Nothing is going to happen in a hurry that is a big change.  But the states that flipped show that people are sick of the current shit.

The worry I have is that this election went blue because the Electoral College was not a player.  The next presidential election, we will be again at the mercy of the EC.

For now I am going to bask in the widespread happiness of those who voted for change, or against Trump, however you want to look at it.

It's time for Texas to join the compact. If Texas and just one other state with 4 or more electoral votes join, the EC will cease to be an issue.

Anyone in a non-compact state, call or write your state representative, call or write your governor. Express your support. Push now to end the EC's strangle-hold on our democracy.

Latinos, motivated by immigration and economic woes, drive Democratic gains in Republican strongholds

Quote:Nowhere was that picture clearer than in Texas, where Hinojosa defeated three-term Republican Governor Greg Abbott, who has served in Texas state politics for more than 30 years. Yet, Hinojosa's "Latino voter strategy" was simple: Treat the electorate, one of the swingiest in the country, as if they're no different from non-Latino voters.

She defeated Abbott by about 6.5 percentage points, 52.5% to 46%, according to the most recent vote totals.

Her message to Latino Texans would be the same as to non-Latinos — ‌she would just say it in Spanish, she told Reuters in January. And in an interview at her Austin-based campaign headquarters in July, she said it shouldn't be odd to have a Latina as governor of Texas.

She won't be alone: Democrat Xavier Becerra, who was health and human services secretary under President Joe Biden, won his gubernatorial race in California. It will be the first time in modern history that the two most populous states, California and Texas, will both be led by Latino governors at the same time.
