I have a question for a buddhist:

When i go to the oriental takeout, they have a huge statue of fat bellied happy buddha. If i rub his belly, I am supposed to get lucky.
The thing is, I feel more retarded than lucky when I do it.
Could you help me?
But you still do it to get lucky huh? Has it ever gotten you laid? LOL

Hey think about it. The Asians make some of the best tasting food, have the most devastating fighting/defense techniques known throughout history, have all kinds of amazing yogic exercises, stimulating tantric sex postures, and make some of the world's best technology today. Why wouldn't they have created the most effective spiritual practices also? This is one reason why Buddhism is a on a whole different playing field when compared to such backward, militant religions as Christianity or Islam. Buddha is a true genius compared to Mohammed's idiocy and a fearless warrior compared to Christ's pansy ass! Buddha is always smiling because he is high on intellectualism and knows how to have a good time while still being very loving and compasionate.
So Chill out atheists! Let go of your bleak minimalism and trite reductionism. Haha. Take a deep breathe and have a Zen moment.
You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.

Buddhism= Peacefull religion. They have that gods are equal to humans and that they live in forests, they repsect their nature, and they arent wasteful, and they are vegeterians.
Perfect religion if you ask me

Wonderful...but Mitja...you have missed all the wars and bloodshed perpetrated by these Hindu gods. And then there is Brahma and all the meat eating along with the vegetarianism... sorry kid but you seem ill informed and far too idealistic. I would REALLY have a good LOOK at all the Hindu texts and traditions, Shiva, Shakti and Kali are NOT that nice.

Funny though...using one fictional belief system to describe another fictional "power" that religion gives you.

Sorry but I think you should go educate yourself. Even though Buddhism and Hinduism both came from India, Buddhism and hinduism are two different religions. Buddhism reject supreme creator or god that hinduism claim, infact Buddha rejected hinduism and went against their practice of sacrifices and belief. Buddhists do not worship/believe hindu gods (brahma, shiva, vishnu etc) or care much for them. This is just as dumb as talking about Christianity using taoist belief as its representation. To learn about buddhism, you look at buddhist canon/text, not Hindu's.
Being around most buddhists and monks when I was a buddhist and I can tell you they are the most peaceful and least forceful group of people (there are however extreme case as well but no where as bad as christians) even more than us atheists. They really arent wasteful and do have a great respect for nature and earth. However not all buddhists or monks are vegetarian, theravada monks consume meats, mahayana monks dont but most lay practitioners eat meats. Most monastic dont live in forest..but there are still monastery of monks living in seclusion on mountains or forest.
