Number of times the word "Moon" appears in the Qur’an = 27
Time it takes the Moon to travel round the Earth (in days) = 27
Number of times the word “land” appears in the Qur’an = 13
Number of times the word “sea” appears in the Qur’an = 32
Proportion of dry land to sea covering the Earth = 13/45 = 29%
Proportion of sea to dry land on Earth = 32/45 = 71%
The star Sirius appears in the Surah called an-Najm, meaning “Star.” The stars comprising Sirius approach one another in their courses once every 49.9 years. This astronomic phenomenon is indicated in verses 49 and 9 of Surat an-Najm.
Al-Hadid is the 57th Surah of the Qur’an, and the numerical value of the words al-Hadid is also 57.
The value of the word "hadid" alone is 26, and this is also the atomic number of iron.
The word “day (yavm)" appears 365 times in the Qur’an.
It takes the Earth 365 days to orbit the Sun.
The words “man” and “woman” both appear 23 times in the Qur’an.
The 23rd chromosome is the main element that determines an individual’s gender.
Verse 19:57 of the Qur’an speaks of “raising to a high place.”
"Sputnik 1," the first unmanned satellite, was launched in 1957.
Surat an-Nahl, meaning “Bee,” is the 16th Surah.
The bee has 16 chromosomes.
This proves that Quran is the word of God.
I haven't read Quran myself to refute these arguments. Any advises?
If I give a number to each letter of the alphabet (a=1, b=2, etc.) then god is 7, 15, 4. Since 15 is 1 and 5 we can represent it with the number 6 (1 + 5) so we have the 3 digit number 764 for god. 9/11 was a terrible tragedy and here is the proof god did it. Let's take 764 (god remember) and multiply it by 91 then again by 11 and we get 764764. The numbers scream god,god so your god did 9/11. Any reason you want to point out that this isn't true?

27 times, the number of times moon is mentioned in the Qu'ran.
27 times, the number of times 5th has been food shopping.
Therefore, god is a man who despises women shopping.
Do you see what i did there. If not, its called BS.

hmmm...
Since Quran has mistakes and logical errors it can't be from God.
Since it has these things, it can't be from Mohammad.
Therefore conclusion, Aliens revealed it to him.

If you want to criticise a book,it's a good idea to read it first
The Qur'an is available on line, free,in many languages, in pdf form.
Yes, I've read the Qur'an,but leave you to make your own assessment. You might even decide to become a Muslim, or not, which is absolutely your choice.

It sounds as if the Muslim in question is trying to prove somehow that the quran is a great source of science, if he's impressed by numbers tell him less than 1% of the world's academic papers come from Muslim nations and ask why a book that holds so much truth doesn't demonstrate it.

Some of them are true, some of them are not, for example the number of males and females not true, the number land to sea, it's not true, days mentioned 365 times is false...we did a check on those before.

Umm, I'd disagree a little here. I mean, its fine to say that for complete intellectual honesty, you should actually read a piece of fiction before you criticize it, but sometimes reading a review is just as good. You can read multiple reviews from separate sources fro a measure of objectivity. It won't be completely honest, but I'm willing to be a little dishonest in order to avoid that extremely masochistic task.

Here we go with the some Greek influence.
http://aboutnumerology.com/history.php
Numerology was established first as a way to teach mathematics..
"Pythagoras was born is Greece around 590 BC and was one of the best known philosophers of his day. If his name sounds familiar it is likely because you were taught his theories in high school geometry class. He was a very important figure in the development of mathematics, although little is known about his true achievements."
Then came let's get the youngsters into this!
Muslim
http://www.ucalgary.ca/applied_history/t...eginnings/
"Islam is a religion that began in the 7th century in the Arabian Peninsula. In the Arabic language, islam means "submission," which in a religious context means submission to God. A person who submits is called a muslim, which is also the word for a follower of the religion of Islam. Western writers in the past have sometimes referred to Islam as "Mohammedism." This word can be offensive to many Muslims, because it insinuates the worship of the prophet Muhammad as a deity, which is not a component of Islam the way the worship of Christ is a component of Christianity. "
Let's add the Bandwagon Fallacy into this.
Irrelevant Appeals
In a nutshell:
http://www.logicalfallacies.info/relevance/appeals/
"Irrelevant Appeals
Explanation
Irrelevant appeals attempt to sway the listener with information that, though persuasive, is irrelevant to the matter at hand. There are many different types of irrelevant appeal, many different ways of influencing what people think without using evidence. Each is a different type of fallacy of relevance.
Examples
For example, an appeal to authority seeks to persuade by citing what someone else, a perceived authority, thinks on the subject, as if that resolves the question. The degree of support that such an appeal lends to a claim varies depending on the particular authority in question, the relevance of their expertise to the claim, and other factors, but in all cases is limited.
An appeal to consequences seeks to persuade by getting the listener to consider either the attractiveness of a belief, or the unattractiveness of the alternatives. We should form beliefs, however, not on the basis of what we would like to be true, but on the basis of what the evidence supports.
An appeal to pity, which can be very effective, persuades using emotion—specifically, sympathy—rather than reason.
These are just some of the common irrelevant appeals."
a believer will try anything that hasn't been tried before, and fall right into a fallacy not only of logic. But of again making up something that sounds good.
"Religion is comparable to Childhood neurosis" Sigmond Freud
"If one wishes to form a true estimate of the full grandeur of religion, one must keep in mind what it undertakes to do for men. It gives them information about the source and origin of the universe, it assures them of protection and final happiness amid the changing vicissitudes of life, and it guides their thoughts and motions by means of precepts which are backed by the whole force of its authority."
SIGMUND FREUD, New Introductory Lectures on Psychoanalysis
"Religion is an illusion and it derives its strength from the fact that it falls in with our instinctual desires."

I have tried a number of times to read the damned thing but the fact is it is such awful drivel that it is impossible to get into. The bible...which is a piece of shit...is well-written by comparison.
