Pun intended? Tongue

I was a catholic when I was younger, because my mother is a catholic and my father didn't give a crap, so I just went along with it. I started questioning my beliefs when I attended secondary school, because we were taught about religion rather than having a priest drone on. I was fully atheist by about 12-13, before that deistic.

Babies are atheists. The believe in absolutely nothing. Religion is something that is taught to them.

It probably depends on how you define each term. They can be either if you based on different definitions. I'd say babies are definitely materialists though.

It's quite simple. Babies do not have the capacity for such belief. They do not even have object permanence. They are Gnostic Atheists purely because they don't know what the fuck a god is.

The technical term is Implicit Atheist, which means they do not believe in a god because they have no notion of one.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of this specific term, but this is essentially what I was trying to get across.

Nah, they still had that whole thing bottled up at the time.

A little later on my older brother went in the Navy and, as how he had been driving us to church ( anything to get his hands on the car!) this suddenly presented my father with a choice. Either he could get up an drive me ( my mom couldn't care less ) or, as he put it "would you rather just sleep in on Sunday." I took option B. Catholicism was always stupid and inconvenient for me. As soon as I realized that my dad didn't give a shit about it either I was done.

I never became a non-believer. I just never became a believer. (No one becomes a non-believer. We're born with no belief. Some of us are indoctrinated into belief. Later on, some shed the indoctrination.)

to my recollection, i never believed. church wasn't even interesting theater to watch them speaking in tounges and hollering - i just wanted to get home so i can go play outside. i felt validated tho when the pastor of "st. paul a.m.e." showed up at me and my mom's apartment back when i was 10 or 11, asking her to have a chat with him - and he brought me a silver playboy bunny pendant (bribe? really?) for my necklace. she put him out, that pretty much sealed it for me - dude was a piss ant.
